Activity: 0% Longevity: 57% | | Change credit card number by reporting as stolen, OK to reuse?
I am able to change my credit card # if it's reported as lost or stolen to the bank. They re-send a credit card with a completely new number. My question is if Amazon has any way to link this new number with the old credit card number? I will be using a different name and address on this card -- I found that Amazon (as well as most merchants) only verify the zip code, expiration date, and some times request the 3 digit security code. But address and name aren't verified and can be whatever and the card will not be declined.

Your new credit card will be linked to the same street address. Unless you use the same address (which will get you linked) the new card you get will not pass the AVS verification check which is standard to most credit cards these days.

Only zip code, date, and if they ask for the 3 digit security code in the back of card is what needs to match so you don't get a decline.
You can order something online and try it out, ive been doing this for a while. Change name and street. I just look up addresses with the same zip code online and use that street address and also change the name.

street makes zero difference. Just the zip code. I do this with Paypal for local accounts.
It will NOT work for amazon because amazon does random tests before deposit. The card will decline, you will not get your distribution and you will have to add a new card.

Why do u say azmn will decline in your described case?

For the umpteenth time AVS check
House Number
Zip Code
CVV
Its it up the online retailer which parameters they use to charge the card. Higher the value more checks I would assume. My experience amazon only use one of these for opening a seller account as the charge amount is $1

Great to know. I've never gotten a decline from transactions from my experience ordering with various merchants with different house number. But good to know that house# is one of the variables they might check for. But it seems zip code and CVV and expiration always need to match if checked for and wrong info on those fields will always get you a decline. I've made up house# street addresses and names many times without declines from the bank when ordering things online.

But for this particular case- the card will be working. I was just wondering if I can use the same credit card that was on a banned account BUT have it reported lost/stolen first so they can send me a new credit card with a new number. And then I will use a made up address and name on that credit card since the bank verification from my experience consists of zip code, 3 digit cvs, and expiration date only (and according to some here the street# but not street name). So new address, new number -- will amazon somehow be able to link this to my banned account with the old credit card that was reported lost/stolen? So same credit card account but reported lost so I can have a different number, and ofcourse entering fictitious different name and address.

evidently it is not random but before the distribution. I did not realize it was every time.
