A-Z buyer refuses package

So I had a buyer buy a $279.00 item and upon delivery refuses the package and instantly opens an A-Z claim stating it was not delivered.

I represent to Amazon etc....Amazon says to refund the buyer appropriately within 3 days.

Is it acceptable to refuse packages in Amazons eyes?

US might be different but anyone in the UK has the rights to refuse a package.

Will make little difference to Amazon in the scheme of things if it's accepted by the buyer or not.

Sounds obvious but I'd certainly wait for it to be returned before you pay anything.

It is a bit insane to me.

Buy something, pay for it, upon delivery refuse it, then open an item not received case.

Who does this and why?
It is not a competitor or certainly does not seem to be.

Basically the same thing as returning an item within 14 days.. but he decided he didn't want it after it was already shipped. He refused the package so he didn't have to pay return postage.

You'd think a buyer would be confident about it's purchase for that high of dollar amount though.

Just wait for the return and get tracking of your carrier to confirm its on the way back before you refund.

He more than likely found $5 cheaper elsewhere, there are lots of asshole buyers out there.

soooo....why A-Z claim?

This messed up a $3800 distribution and gave me a temporary suspension. It is a new account that is selling really well.

Amazon said to reasonable restocking fee and refund within 3 days.

Which shipper returning it, just get it redirected, should be easy.

And I would follow amazon's policy on restocking fees etc. If he leaves a negative appeal it and it should get removed.

Life is full of little hassles, just makes us stronger. Like yesterday for me, left my car parked on the wrong side of the road for street cleaning day, $38, so being thoughtful moved and got a $53 penalty as I parked against the wrong meter with my parking pass. I love CA.

Is the 20% restocking fee on unopened merchandise returns and $19.99 shipping concession spelled out in Amazon's return policy or is that your own's store policy?

yankee, from what I understand, you run quite a few stealth accounts.

I highly recommend investing in a shipping manager application. I personally use Teaplixx, and I can run Amazon AND eBay accounts from it (all stealth) with no linking issues. I've been doing it about 5 months now. There are of course, MANY alternatives. But well worth the 20-60 dollars per month.
