Default Amazon weird sales drop behaviour

I sell on Amazon.

Do very well and I get plenty of sales.

Account is in good standing.

What I have noticed for the last few weeks.
I would have 300 sales in 2 days
Then the best few days, not a single sale.

Last weekend, I sold about 200 items.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was around 40 sales.
Thursday and today not a single sales.

It's not my items, I have been selling items all year around.

It's like Amazon control your sales. Weird has it may sound but I do not get this.

Is anyone having issues with Amazon Sales?

I have often felt that.

I have always noticed that as soon as I got a negative feedback, it is like my account was dropped down in some list of prioritized sellers. And that might be true. I don't know.

But I also feel that they are looking intensely at my account, and my sales drop until they either kick me off, or allow me to continue.

But I have long felt that Amazon controls sales.

Getting a negative feedback can place you lower in the seller rank for a product, and there are always the anal buyers who actually check every negative someone has ever gotten.

This is my second year selling, and last Oct was my worst month. This Oct will lead as one of the lowest month this year also.

Not sure if this helps any.

It's not seasonal products.

It's like something dead end with sales for few days and then boom.

It's so annoying.

Hi,

You may have lost the buy box on certain products. I used to have this a lot but messed all my account up by selling sub standard products from China. (You know what I mean :0).

Notices just different times Amazon controls your sales but they may have some stupid algorithms but hey I don't know exactly.

Thanks

I have been a seller on Amazon since 2001, and I have noticed a definite control element that goes on.

For instance...just this week, I uploaded about several hundred CD titles on to three accounts. And one account sold 20 CDs in one day, and the other two sold nothing.

For whatever reason, some accounts are given a smoother passage...let's call it that...than others.

I suspect it is some sort of monitoring that goes on that puts a flag on your account, and until that is lifted or you pass their requisite bull, your account isn't going to flow.

The negative feedbacks are not simply sellers responding. I have had enough accounts to know that once you get rolling in sales, as long as everything goes smoothly, you can fly. And you can make a lot of money in those times. The minute you get a negative ding, it slows you down for a bit, as if the system then puts you to the back of the line.

But once you are in good standing, and show them that you are trustworthy, things can go very smoothly. I have noticed that if I go above and beyond to refund someone when I did not have to do so, or take a loss on some transaction when dealing with an unruly customer, they notice this sort of thing, and you are rewarded for it.

They will never say that...because the people that we as sellers deal with are front line morons, undoubtedly from the third world who are desperately trying to hold on to their jobs as they make little to no sense at times when they answer (sending form letter responses to questions that you aren't asking).

But there is obviously a higher level of people who are monitoring things, and those people control whether you live or die.

I'd love to kill them all...

i would think that has something to do with you buy box?

is there any competitors? why dont u try monitor your competitors buy putting their items in your basket and see the numbers for few days.

it might be the day when your sales are down, amazon gives the buy box to other sellers.

Whatever the reason was, my sales have resumed fully.

Did call Amazon 3 times to discuss this issue.
Was told everything is fine and all my items are active to sell.

Amazon Sellers forum had some seller's complaining about the same thing.

My items that are normally on the first page of search. Even though my items were the cheapest and selling large amounts with good standing account, my sales were on a full stop.

So one sale since Thursday.
Woke up and found I had 10 sales.
Further into the afternoon, sales are coming through.
My listings are definitely back on searching ranks.

Whatever sabbiman has said makes a strong valid points.

If your items have moved down to page 2 then your prices are higher than those on page 1, simple.
People buy on price and if your not in the Top3 on page 1 your sales will be poor, and if the cheapest seller has excellent feedback you will be lucky to sell anything.

My prices are always low. It's a competitive prices.

I agree many factors on slow sales at times.
For this I am 100 convinced that it was from Amazon side

My sales are coming through now just like it should do.

I honestly was thinking the same, i sell (or used to) for the last 3-4 months 3-400 items per month, im sitting at only 87 sales this month, so heavily relied on auctions on ebay which i hate doing, didnt help that also the item i had FBA stock in which was a 2nd rank sales on amazon some how dissapered from the search, even amazon cant explain it.

i feel your pain though mate, and i defo agree amazon control sales IMO, heres hoping xmas gives us all that big boost we all deserve

Customers control sales not amazon, not the cheapest you sell jack ****.

Why would amazon control sales, it makes no difference to them who sells an item.

Its all down to Price Price Price.

If I lose the buy box on an item my sales on that item will fall 80% even though I may still be the cheapest.

Amazon can and would do anything.
Just like eBay.

How can anyone explain this.
After calling in Amazon... my sales were up 95% today.

It had nothing to do with the prices.
Amazon forums are filled with the same problem I encounter. And most these sellers are way bigger than me.

Also, there is no need to be rude by calling Jack****

If you don't think Amazon controls things, you are kidding yourself.

This is a company that closed down DVD sales, then kicked anyone off from the site who was selling DVDs, ... and then lied about the reason, and set up a complete bs system by which you can ask permission to sell DVDs, but nobody ever gets ungated. Not ever.

They routinely kick people off for no reason and give them no answer when asked why. And many times simply hold the money when they deem they wish to do so.

And you think they don't control who sells and who doesn't?

It is not simply lowest prices wins. It is more complex than that, but some puppetmaster is running the thing, and we'll never know.

Amz are certainly a law unto themselves. It is mostly all unregulated.

It is not a true business, just a way to make money. They recently chopped off another of my top rated 4+ year accounts with the reason that it did not pass their review. That's all they said. Boom. Appeals and responses all blanked and ignored. I hate them. But no doubt I will be back for more of the same soon.

I have not personally had the control of sales by Amz happen to me, but the possibility may exist or it could be a glitch...

ok eternity4U, "jack ****" is an english saying meaning "anything at all"

Anyway, if your goods are listed on amazon and showing for sale how an earth can amazon stop someone from buying from you. They can't, people are price led.

OK sabbiman, I sell DVD's with no problem, if they are purchased from legitimate suppliers there is no problem selling them. Amazon don't want rogue sellers selling counterfeit product, thats why there are restrictions.Amazon suspend/delete accounts for good reasons, poor metrics, counterfeit, etc. They want professional sellers who can enhance there business, not school kid selling from his bedroom who could not careless on customer service etc.
Buy box will get the majority of sales, followed by cheapest seller. Simple but true.
