Default Anybody else having a big drop in sales?

hey guys ,

I've been on Ebay for quite a while and usually things are good enough for me to live on... up until now. Recently my sales have dropped very significantly and I have been trying to figure out why. Before I go changing a bunch of things in my store I figured I would first ask if this is something that is happening to everyone or just to me. So please let me know am I alone in this alarming sales drop?

Where are most of your buyers located? Consider that school has just let out or is about to let out in many geographic areas. That means older teens and younger college students are studying, graduating, or enjoying the beginning of their break. It also means parents are pre-occupied with tons of miscellaneous to-dos.

That would impact sales for many sellers. It happens. It passes.

its hot outside, cabin fever is over.

However, my sales are picking up now that the spring and summer months are here. All depends on what your selling.

Heh, yeah. The market for Ed Hardy hoodies will be sparse for a while. The market for beer and bikinis is up.

It depends what products you're selling. A seller selling the right seasonal item will be a success over night

Yes I have noticed that I am not making as many sales as I used to and my items are right for the season so I do not understand either.

Not only is summer the worst time of year for the type of item I sell, but the economy is also not helping. Yes my sales are way down too :'(

My sales are down 10 fold from last year, but thats because Im having trouble with competitors taking my auctions down. I don't understand why they're bringing ebays attention to the matter. Worse for everybody...

It is typically a slower part of the year with everyone outside and enjoying the weather. Try lowering your starting bid or add a reasonable 'BIN' option on whatever you are selling and see how that goes.?.? I'm in the Sports Collectible business so I have to wait for whatever season it is. November-January for NFL...April-May for the NBA etc....
Like any other business, unless your Bernie Maddoff, you have to except your slower days in sales along with the more profitable days that you have had and hopefully you stay a $dollar$ ahead.

Keep your head up and don't get discouraged!

1 out of 10.5 people in the USA are unemployed.

OTOH, if you can survive this downturn, you'll be doing well later.

GL and I agree, "keep yer head up"!

Recently its like one of a sellers products hit a wall. Where they could sell 4-6 items/day is more like 1 item every 3-5 days. Ouch. Back to seasonal items.

Default Mysterious pattern

Whenever eBay has a policy change, there is a tremendous sales drop.

6/30/2009 is the end of the discount of subtitle when free shipping is offer.
eBay is working on the changes of this one-year old promotion to get seller offer free shipping. I think eBay’s system is now experiencing huge impact applying this global changes, therefore, I can see my eBay item hit ratio drop tremendously, and of course, comes with sales drop in pair.

I’ve been doing eBay for 4-5 years, whenever there is a change, sales drop tremendously .. Last changes are 6/15/2009 new version of selling page layout and new FAQ, larger item pictures …etc … and I also experienced huge sales drop during that period … and I am have a good sales last week (6/16/2009 - 6/23/2009), but sales drop back these 3 days ….

In the immortal words of Bill Clinton, "Its the economy stupid."

Also, it always slows down in summer. Its not just you or eBay, all retailers suffer in Summer. Not to worry, it will pick up in August, when all the kids start buying to go back to school..
