amazon suspension

Hello, has anyone successfully gotten back on amazon? I'm not sure how they keep tracking me and suspending me. I have tried the same methods that I use on ebay but amazon has a different way of tracking users. Any suggestions? Thank you

philly387 01-15-2009 11:01 PM

Honestly, I don't think there is any other way to track you besides the way ebay does. I think you are doing something wrong. Maybe you aren't but I can't think of anything else to track you by.

cgbuys23 01-16-2009 03:08 PM

well i use gift cards, use skype for phone number, clean cookies with cc cleaner, tried creating new user ids on windows. use netzero from different locations for the ip. Im going to try to change the brand of the gift card see if that works. I noticed the gift cards i used the first four digits were all the same. Maybe that could be it. any other suggestions? thank you

philly387 01-16-2009 03:18 PM

maybe use something other than skype for phone number.

TMiles 01-16-2009 04:34 PM

They do have better ways to track you. I have not figured it out, but I am positive, they can track you differently than eBay. I have opened a multitude of eBay accounts with success. The exact same methods with Amazon fail.

The best bet is to use the library for your internet access ans use a go-phone for phone verification.....

Good luck

cgbuys23 01-18-2009 06:45 PM

yeah im also 100% positive that their tracking methods is different then ebay. I've created many ebay accounts, but cant seem to figure out amazons tracking methods.

You guys have me terrified of amazon lol... i havent opened a seller's account yet but there's more and more stories of people getting suspended. I have 3 buyer accounts with them and thats about it. I'll keep reading up on what NOT to do on Amazon .. any shared stories would be appreciated

cgbuys23 01-18-2009 09:36 PM

I got suspended because i issued 5 refunds to buyers. I got no warning or emails, and they never responded to my emails about getting reinstated. I had no idea.

If you read their seller policy you are not suppose to refund more than a certain % and if you do you will definitely get suspended. They are really strict on this. If you made 20 transactions and issued 5 refunds there's a good chance you will get suspended.

Jonas 01-22-2009 08:10 PM

Why do people go, "I hate eBay forcing me to use paypal and snooping on me and freezing them." and then they go to sell on Amazon.com that does much more than eBay?

TMiles 01-23-2009 09:13 AM

So true Jonas....

cgbuys23 01-23-2009 09:58 PM

because we want to make money.

Are you a ProMerchant, or are (were) you using a regular seller's account? I'm not sure if that makes a diff, but I'm trying to put some pieces together myself, too.

ebaykilla 02-05-2009 11:14 PM

make sure you clean ALL of your flash cookies and delete the folders that held those flash cookies. i used to get linked as well but when I started to delete the folders I have been selling with no issues after every suspension.

aquariusvc 02-06-2009 06:20 PM

after delete the flash cookies and using new computer i has get suspended every seller account have 1 withdraw i don't know why? what the way amazon track you ? I do this like with ebay with no problems but amazon i has fail.

ebaykilla 02-06-2009 11:12 PM

there is something you are missing...are you using new bank account numbers each time? i make new accounts with ease on amazon...much easier than ebay.

TMiles 02-07-2009 08:55 AM

Again, please read this thread carefully. AMAZON HAS BETTER TRACKING METHODS THAN EBAY. EBAY STEALTH DOES NOT WORK ON AMAZON.

USE A GO-PHONE (NEW NUMBER) FOR PHONE VERIFICATION AND A PUBLIC LIBRARY'S COMPUTER AND YOU WILL BE FINE. DO NOT USE YOUR COMPUTER. THAT IS YOUR MISTAKE. THEY HAVE SOME SPYWARE THAT YOU CANNOT FIND.

Jonas 02-07-2009 09:03 AM

TMiles2564, spyware huh? Lots of sites would actually like to know how. Wikis for one. Secondly, a news article said craigslist started telephone verification purely because they had a problem with spammers that have bots specifically tailored for their site that can read all their human-unreadable CAPTCHAs and craigslist just can't ban the bot.

Is amazon using flash or java? Or is amazon simply trying to track you by your browser cache so you clear cookies but not cache?

Maybe amazon's tracking system has something to do with them requiring your bank account and then trying to get your personal info from that.

TMiles 02-07-2009 11:50 AM

I can guarantee it has nothing to do with the bank account. If it did, then why can you go to the library and use a go phone and be up and running. Use a different computer and phone and you will succeed.

I do not know how, I just know they catch you every time. Clearing cache and cookies does not work. Changing IP addresses does not work either.

Simply go to the library....

Jonas 02-08-2009 07:22 AM

Miles, if you try it with java and flash disabled, then it might be something related to IP range combined with some information you enter. It might use user-agent or use javascript to find your screen resolution, but well one thing you can try is try dialing long distance across the country and then do a test account and see what happens.

TMiles 02-08-2009 05:29 PM

Jonas,

Good advice. I will try when I get some time....

Thanks

ebaykilla 02-09-2009 10:42 PM

I disagree that stealth dose not work with amazon. I use the stealth method successfully all of the time. Just make sure you delete the flash folders that holds the cookies after a suspension. I have done this at least 5 times in the past year alone with success with the same PC. if it were not for refunds or bad feedback I would never get suspended on amazon.

xmarksthespot 02-10-2009 03:11 AM

I have been having problems with getting back on Amazon , it takes me ages 1-2 weeks to open a new bank account with a credit/debit card.
Is there any quicker way to open a bank account ?

nobody999 02-10-2009 01:30 PM

where are the folders?

GREMLIN 02-10-2009 06:21 PM

Fortunately i haven't had the problem of getting suspended from amazon however you are right they are very strict. So before anyone joins i would recommend forecasting long review periods. They also have high standards and expect sellers to ship out within 2 working days.

Keep us posted if deleting the folders that the flash cookies came from works for anyone else. There is always a way around and maybe this is the thing that they do different compared to ebay.

Im sure we can get back on amazon following a suspension from our home instead of taking measures such as going to the library or buying a new computer. Deleting the flash cookies folders sounds like its already working just need to know if its working for some one else aswell.

aspkin 02-10-2009 06:54 PM

Come on guys, it's flash cookies for sure.

There is no advance tracking, it's just flash cookies.

Create a user account for your Amazon account, change your IP Address and go from there.

ebaykilla 02-10-2009 10:45 PM

do a search on your pc for files that end in .sol they are usually in the macromedia folder.

ebaykilla 02-10-2009 10:48 PM

you need to wait 2 weeks before getting paid. i never ship on amazon until the money hits my bank first! don't withdraw more than $499 with zero feedback or risk having your money held for 30 days. start slow and build up. after a month you should be able to sell like wildfire.

GREMLIN 02-11-2009 10:51 AM

That's true it takes along time for the money to hit your bank account. But i cant see anyone building a strong account if your gonna wait till the money clears before posting.

Amazon clearly notifies the buyer of the expected delivery time. If your selling a lcd tv for £350 and you make the customer wait 2 weeks plus for their item to arrive you risk receiving negative feedback.

To be honest i have 2 accounts with amazon. One for myself and another belonging to my business partner. My account is going strong and i ship out straight away. We try to do the same on my partners but we have removed many listings as the account is currently under review.

Aspkin is right its gotto be the cookies. They've got cookies in your system or some sort of spy ware from amazon. The computers round your place so surely you have more control over locking them out or removing the spy ware.

Dont know if you guys heard but a few months back amazon was on the BBC consumer watchdog for allowing sellers to sell illegal items such as pepper spray and knives. Ebay also came on for similar reasons last week. I know this ain't a ebay thread but i just hope they get such a bad name that everyone moves over to buy from elsewhere. A place where we will not be restricted to offer paypal and follow their pathetic rules

ebaykilla 02-11-2009 07:13 PM

You just have to wait 14 days after placing a new bank account....so hold off on listing those pricey items until the 14 day wait period is over ;)

homer7 02-11-2009 07:20 PM

Hi , so you guys are saying that if i set the amazon account up in a library , i'll be ok . But what about after that , cause i still have to log in the account to list items or retrieve info.should i go back to the library then?
Also i use vumber for phone verification.what do you guys think.
Thank you in advance

Here We Go Again 02-11-2009 07:58 PM

You folks need to remember that there are at least 3 different types of Amazon accounts.
The regular "FREE" Amazon selling account - No listing fees or monthly fees.
Then you have the "Pro Merchant" account - No listing fees but $39.99 monthly fee.
Then you have the "Pro Merchant" account that is held by a Real Brick & Mortar Business - No listing fees but $39.99 monthly fee AND a few more hoops to jump through.

The rules differ for each of the above types of accounts.

I personally have a "FREE" Amazon seller account.
This is the one most folks here have.
You have the normal fees when a item sells + that ever present $.99 fee.
You can only list in certain categories at certain times of the year.
I have 2 totally different types of items I run on my account.
I have my summer items and my winter items.
It works out great. I have been there for almost 2 years.
I have never had to talk to a human at Amazon unless I personally called them.
I can not add a new item to the Amazon Catalog.
I can only sell items that are already in the Amazon Catalog.

I also run a "Pro Merchant" account for the Brick & Mortar Business I work for.
It took me almost 4 weeks to get approved for the restricted categories or Apparel and Automotive.
If your item does not have a true universal UPC it makes it even harder.
The business I work for has Private UPC's that only work at their stores.
They are not normal UPC's so that is another hoop I had to jump through.
I was on the phone with my Amazon Rep. for a total of 7 hours in those 4 weeks.
I also use the Amazon Seller Desktop Application to upload items as I have to use "Private ID" on all my items.
Amazon Seller Desktop is sorta like "Turbo Lister" for eBay.

So the rules vari for each type of account you might hold.

I did ask my Amazon Rep. 1 interesting question...
If I log into my Business account from home will it link me with my private account due to the matching IP addresses?
He told me that Amazon does not link accounts based on IP addresses.
So my personal account, and my Business Pro Merchant account would not be linked and the status of one would not effect the other.
Weather this is true or crap I do not know.
Weather my Rep. removed that linking flag from my account I do not know.

I do hope that this bit of information is informative enough to help but vague enough to keep me anonymous.

ebaykilla 02-12-2009 12:11 AM

good info...for the record, i use the free accounts............with ease.

That is why Amazon accounts should still have their OWN computer user account.
