| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 12:49 AM | 21 day hold Ok I have been on ebay for a long time now. Years on stealth.
For the past couple of months the 21 day hold has started on new accounts. It's really frustrating. EveN after the 60 day of selling and 10 sales, I get an email that I am now an established seller I still get 21 day holds on new items I sell. When does it stop? Is there anything else I need to do so there are no holds. Thanks |
| GreenBean | 12-27-2014 12:55 AM | Re: 21 day hold Tell me about your DSRs and feedback.
Approximate value of items will help as well. |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 12:57 AM | Re: 21 day hold Feed back and dsr is 100% positive.
Items cost vary between 10 to 100 |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 12:58 AM | Re: 21 day hold When do they stop this stu pid 21 day holds.. are old accounts getting it too. It's crazy |
| Klemantina | 12-27-2014 01:04 AM | Re: 21 day hold Same issues here. Hopefully it will get better after holidays. Probably it will get worse so you need to change your strategy. |
| buttondown | 12-27-2014 01:08 AM | Re: 21 day hold I think this is only for holiday seasons. |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 01:11 AM | Re: 21 day hold How do I change strategy |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 01:13 AM | Re: 21 day hold What do we need to do so we don't get these holds. I get an email saying I am now an established seller and holds won't apply then next sale bang another hold. There must must b a way out |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 01:14 AM | Re: 21 day hold I am getting desperate as I really the money now and can't afford this bull |
| Klemantina | 12-27-2014 01:55 AM | Re: 21 day hold One good strategy would be increasing the number of accounts and increasing the amount of money you spend to buy your items, if your desperate you should cut your sales for a while or you can take a loan. |
Re: 21 day hold Try to build the capital needed so you're not dependent on immediate funds via PayPal.
Obviously easier said than done, but truly it will make your business a lot smoother.
The majority of my stealth accounts have the same 21 day limit |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 02:49 AM | Re: 21 day hold So you saying there is no way and the 21 day hold will just stay on all my accounts |

You need to show that you're a good seller for 90 days. Keep disputes/chargebacks to a minimum, provide tracking details and the hold will decrease/disappear over time.
There are a couple methods to remove the 21 day hold before that, but they don't work 100% of the time. So I don't even mess with it, as the holds really do help stabilize the stealth accounts. |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 02:59 AM | Re: 21 day hold But like I said I have email sent to me that I am now an established seller and still I have holds. Why is that |
Re: 21 day hold It's 90 days of selling, and I believe 25 transactions (but don't quote me on this).
Assuming you didn't get many disputes/cases |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 03:32 AM | Re: 21 day hold So even though it says I am an established seller and no holds it does not matter. I just want to know what do I need to do exactly to end holds |
| Klemantina | 12-27-2014 03:53 AM | Re: 21 day hold |
| Stealth4 | 12-27-2014 04:03 AM | Re: 21 day hold Ok so I don't know still what I have to achieve to remove these holds. I had thought once I receive those emails then I wouldn't have to worry about the hold |
| matblacrog | 12-27-2014 08:58 AM | Re: 21 day hold Buddy you need to stop think and read. Every new seller now goes through the 21 day hold. Customer pays for item, you ship, funds get released. After 90 days, 25+ feedback & $250 in sales you don't get the holds anymore. |
| yankee | 12-27-2014 09:04 AM | Re: 21 day hold Stealth4,
It is a costs of doing business with ebay/paypal. If everything is well, most likely after 90 days you will no longer have holds.
Go to the 'help and contact' tab, then typing in 'Paypal holding funds' and it will tell you exactly what you need to do.
Keep in mind, Paypal has still been holding funds all on there own after the 90 days lately too. |
| GreenBean | 12-27-2014 09:07 AM | Re: 21 day hold Kept in mind also paypal Australia changed around its rules late November.
Sellers who thought the holds were not going to happen are still being burdened with them. Accounts over 90 days are getting them despite some transactions not being held.
Right mess.
 |
| drm701 | 12-27-2014 10:14 AM | Re: 21 day hold The 21-day hold rule is nothing new for new accounts for almost 18 months now.
All you need to do is use eBay shipping and pay for it using PayPal to send your package to the buyer. By doing this PayPal can keep "tabs" on you and they are 100% sure that the package is shipped and when it gets delivered.
Once the package is delivered you will receive funds in up to 72 hours.
Now... it used to be that PP would lock up funds if the buyer claimed "not as described" or wanted a refund but, I've noticed in the past couple of months that isn't the case, they will still release funds while the dispute is going on. Maybe they are becoming more seller friendly...(NOT). Quote:

Their accounts have had similar issues as described in this thread.
Sorry I have to disagree with the points made by our USA user.
I looked over accounts that were fulfilling their obligations ( and beyond) yet getting holds.
With the holidays, and some issues for paypal UK, I have not had time to delve deeper.
I've emailed people but they are not responding because of the holidays. It would be pure speculation to make any further comments. |

I know you probably will just get a scripted line, but you never know, might be worth asking them |
| Dmshark25 | 12-29-2014 06:53 PM | Re: 21 day hold I know it's never advised calling in, but I learned a lot,of tricks having accounts that I use to,experiment with and push limits

Go to staff appear away on leave at the moment. | Yea 99 out of 100 times you get a scripted response but every once in a while you get a rep on the phone that actually talks and thinks like a human and resolves a situation
