How different does my image have to be?

Hi Guys,

So I like to sell same items under 2 different account, i really don't have time to take 2 separte completely different pictures. Can we just give it different image size and different watermark, would that work?

Also I like to use picture hosting service like inkfrog or auctiva, that won't create a URL linking problem right?

Thanks!!

How long can it take to get another picture? I would think for the piece of mind that know there is no chance of linking by picture that the 5-10 seconds would be worth it. It's the little things that come back to bite you in the end.

I take multiple pictures of every new product I get with different backgrounds.

I have a place set up in the garage when I get a new product that I can re purchase I take 6-8 pictures on each new colored background and put them on a thumbdrive in case I need them.

On each account folder I mark what color I use for that particular account.

You can buy material at most Wal Marts or other places for reasonable.

The other trick is to change the location of the picture I take. Meaning straight on, from the top, side, bottom etc.

When I start up a new account I see which color I have not used and have the pictures already stored and ready to crop.

Well we photoshop all of our images, so it takes forever to do all of our images again. We have a lot of items. The different background sounds good, so can I maybe photoshop different backgrounds?

durdajan 10-26-2011 05:32 PM

new background is a good idea!! + delete the EXIF infos, just in case))

How do you delete this info. I use BatchPurifier right now...

Ineedtobeback2 11-01-2011 01:50 AM

So if I use 3 different screen name..

If I use 3 different ebay name with the same inkfrog account that is not recommended right? after all there could be some mistake in sharing pictures or the token process may give it away?

"save for web and devices"->"metadata"-> select "none"->"save"
this is a step by step in fotoshop)) because fotoshop is the best for images and pictures)

I never really paid attention the image file propertie, but I always take the pic with a different background and always from the camera. I pop in the memory stick in the computer and transfer the file to my desktop and change the picture name and upload to ebay with no problems.

flylow 12-12-2011 09:18 PM

i believe if you don't remove the exif data from all your pics you are giving ebay yet another possible way to link your accounts....there is butt-load of information that is stored in exifs

why give them another source to link you by if you don't have to....there are many exif tag removers and they are simple and quick to use...

Ineedtobeback2 12-13-2011 02:50 AM

Thanks!

So if I resize the image in photoshop and save it as a new file, would it contain different exif code? or do I need to use a exif code remover?

NotAHappyBunny 12-13-2011 03:13 AM

its up to you, take a look at the data to see if you are comfortable with them seeing it.
Use a small program called exiftool.exe.

Just use BatchPurifier, it takes like 2 seconds to overwrite your images with no code.

exifcleaner free download

here is another programme to remove exif data from pics

just take the same pic and have diff backgrounds

then remove exif data

its a known fact now that they can link by photos

so you have to make the time for it

anyone unsure check out this thread by HWGA http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-tr...highlight=exif

Callidus 12-13-2011 10:39 AM

Ok so if I copied an image off google for a phone case for instance and I used this image on 2 different stealth accounts, would they link me?

GTB 12-13-2011 10:41 AM

yeah, you could end up getting a red flag due to copying someone elses photo

better to do your own pics

Ineedtobeback2 12-14-2011 01:09 AM

Thanks GTB!

Thanks for the tip! So even if its a completely different image since I resized it and saved it as a new file, put a new watermark on it.. the Exif is still the same?

If you open it with photoshop as a psd then resize and resave it as a jpg... I don't think the camera's data is there anymore...

Ineedtobeback2 12-15-2011 01:37 AM

Thanks biggunn

But what if I opened it as JPG resize it, added some more watermark to it and save it as JPG? I know I can use a software, I just want to know what I have done before was ok.. Thanks

GTB 12-15-2011 06:10 AM

do whatever you want to it to make it diff, better yet just take two diff pics

then b4 you upload clean in the programme which will remove all unique data

it's no biggie
