| Mr2005 | 01-27-2014 11:23 AM | Increasing eBay sales On the topic of increasing eBay sales:
1) does using subtitles assist with increases sales? I know eBay says they do. Anyone here had noticeable success using them?
2) what can I do to my listings to make them more mobile device friendly? |
| yankee | 01-27-2014 12:01 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales more than 75% of all ebay purchases are now done on a mobile device according to ebay.
Keep things short and to the point. Bold and standard font.
I like to use bulletin dots for important info.
I try to keep details top to bottom on the left side of the screen and add no fluff to make it as clear as possible on the small screen.
I test all major listings on an Iphone to see what the customer is forced to use and make corrects from there. |
| Sandy D | 01-27-2014 11:56 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I have increased the amount of pictures I use. Pictures always get looked at and descriptions seldom get read completely. |
Re: Increasing eBay sales Agree with Sandy, the more pictures the better, people want shots of every angle. |
Re: Increasing eBay sales Dont shell out cash for subtitles (unless they are free promotion) |
| Sandy D | 01-28-2014 06:53 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I dont use them because in my testing I did not see any increase in sales when I did. |

I might use it if I were selling a valuable one of a kind item and I wanted a little more space to entice people into clicking on my listing, but that is about it. |
| pokerpro | 02-03-2014 06:25 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales High quality pictures, (bad photos are almost as bad as no photos) and titles that get them to your auction...subtitles, in my opinion...after 14 years on ebay, are a waste of money. |
| Sandy D | 02-08-2014 11:45 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Social networking!!! |

| Sandy D | 02-12-2014 02:51 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales You need to use solid keywords also. Without keyword spamming of course.
A google search which some buyers use will help you with this. |
| vogeltron | 02-12-2014 04:51 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Personally, I do believe lots of photos is more important than any subtitle. I do understand eBay has changed quite a bit with all the mobile devices. But I still think if you have a solid description and have big large Photos embedded into your listing as well as uploaded with eBay that is the easiest way to sell.
I can't tell you how many listings I have seen in the past few years with zero description a couple crappy photos from a phone. Saying listed with eBay Mobile. I always say good luck with that.
Maybe you can call me an eBay traditionalist but even if you are selling a generic Power Extension cord. I still think you are much better off taking several photos yourself than using some stock photo stolen from someone else.
Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own. |
Re: Increasing eBay sales More photos = more clarity for the buyer...many buyers dont even read listings it would seem hah |
| Sandy D | 02-12-2014 11:01 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I use tons of pictures and social media on certain items to get traffic. That traffic turns into other items selling as well. |
| a.v.limited | 02-18-2014 12:03 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales well depends if you can get all info on main listing. if you need more keywords then subtitle is useful, it will help |

How do you mean you use social media? Would be interested to know...
Thanks |
| just_smile | 02-27-2014 05:45 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Does anyone know how to get your item on page one of google?
One of my items comes up as the second link on google if you type it in. I believe that helps bring many sales |

| nick8898 | 06-20-2014 12:54 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales just got first mc999, asked me to call back, then i did, and it asked me some questios from pubic records, when they told me, i can sell 10 listings, and i asked them, can you increase the listings to 100?? they just did it for me.........great news for me :D:D:D |
| Sandy D | 07-05-2014 02:37 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I am finding social networking was a huge part of my sales last year.
Last year was a record in sales for me and I truly believe it was because I did a lot of social stuff to drive traffic to my accounts. |

| luverlyjuberly | 08-31-2014 07:00 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I've noticed a decrease in my sales as this year has progressed. Now I have read on various sites that any unsold items you should use the "sell similar" option and NOT use the "relist" option (which is what I have been using) as the listing is classed by eBay as an old listing and comes lower down in the eBay search. Any thoughts on this from fellow eBay users? |

Using 'sell similar' means its a brand new listing so you start wherever ebay decides. |
Re: Increasing eBay sales Brand new listing means you are likely to lose whatever search status your previous listing had as well |

Brand new listing means you are likely to lose whatever search status your previous listing had as well | I sell vintage clothing so all my listings are for only one item. Does search status count in this case? I know that those that sell variations or in bulk using one item their search status improves with number sales. I also believe that if an item has watchers this can increase search status. Would it then be preferable to list as GTC?
I ask because I get the impression that if a GTC is listed for many months then search status drops as the listing is not so new. Do more recent listings get a boost in the search status? |
| Hercules | 08-31-2014 09:59 AM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Newly listed are for newly listed watchers. They sit and wait for the new stuff in the categories/items they like. I don't see ebay giving any extra preference. Sub titles that I have tested don't come up on search but I can't be sure on every word/name out there typed in either. |
Re: Increasing eBay sales Use lots of pictures, and keep description to a minimal. Its become common practice for ebay buyers to not read at all, especially when they see an essay. So if you mention things like scratch on top left rather than actually putting a picture up, you will increase your chances of having the customer contact you upon receiving the item asking you why there is a scratch. When you tell them to read the listing, they still argue...
Tip: Pictures over words. |

Tip: Pictures over words. | I agree, people don't read a thing. I don't understand why people are so lazy. I don't even like reading and never read books, but have no issues scanning a description. When I first started I thought putting all the information in the description was a great idea and answered everything perfectly, but then soon realised people don't even bother and cry about things clearly stated.
Short with centralised and big font has been most successful for me. |
| Foreveryoung789 | 09-25-2014 05:56 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales I don't like to read if it's too long, sometimes because of lack of time. Not many people have time to read an essay. I prefer pictures. On the other hand, I understand that reading a description is very important. |
| masimo | 09-25-2014 06:38 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Forget subtitles, put all your keywords in the Main Title, that's how ebay results will come from |
| xShevaa7x | 09-25-2014 07:23 PM | Re: Increasing eBay sales Some peoples descriptions are huge and they have all their terms, conditions and other bull****. I find it hilarious because at the end of the day, if a buyer wants a refund, then the buyer is getting a refund whether the seller accepts them or not. | | All times are GMT -5.
