Today my local Woolworths didn't ask for ID at the front desk, although it was quite busy when I got my prepaid sim.

Funny enough there was a stand near the exit full of Vodafone prepaid sim packs, I could have just grabbed one there and used the self service checkout had I seen it.

I tried once at my local woolies when it was super busy. Hoping they would forget About ID check because it's busy. Didn't work.

They ended up rolling their eyes at me when they saw i had a $2 sim and they tried to convince me to come back and buy it at another time when it wasn't busy.

I said no. i Can't come back later because I need to buy it now. They said Fine. Rolled their eyes on me again and told me i had to wait about 10 minutes until someone else was available because it was so busy.

I guess because them trying to get rid me didn't work the first time. they thought making me wait for ages would get rid of me. lol

Checked your ID in spite of a busy time and low amount...the clerk is doing the proper work - respect for that

Woolworths are not going to risk being fined under Federal Law just because you do not want to give ID.

HAHA "come back another time". How can you have something on the shelves right next to the counter ready to buy only to tell people at the counter 5-10 meters away to come back later at a better time. Some of the nonsense and laziness in Australian retail is just pathetic.

Just go to a 7/11 or service station late at night for your sim cards, the Indian guys will never ask for ID plus they are always laid back and love a chat. I have bought about 8 from the 1 service station from the same guy within a 2 week period.
