Bank Accounts in the UK
 

Hey all, I know this may sound fairly obvious but just wanted to clarify.
UK bank accounts - I have a few that I need to close and I will need to open up some more. What is the best practices? I have done well doing this for years but now I am really protective of my excellent credit rating (LOL) sad? I know!

So can I open 1 current account every 6 months?
what about savings/basic accounts?

I would stick to savings and basic accounts as they wont have an effect on your credit rating.

Newer banks like Uaccount are also REALLY good and let you open a lot of accounts without issue.

Any others like uaccount?
I am running out of high street banks to use myself..

Just tried Uaccount but my broadband went down during the signup and now it wont let me login or create an account.

Does Uaccount only ask for ID not proof of address, I live in Portugal but have a UK passport, I can use a UK address but don't have any proof of living there, will this be ok to open accounts with them?

They didn't for me as I passed all the electronic checks.

If you don't then they will ask for ID. You can only apply for a Uaccount if your in the UK as far as I can tell

Yeah you're absolutely right, they asked for ID and proof of address when I created it using different details.

By the way this uaccount have connections with HMRC? Is there any possibility that we use them without registering with HMRC?

Be careful of unsolicited pm's about this - ppl selling use of bank account in their name can be tricky if you don't know them well. Might have to actively pm people and hope for assistance

Beware of using Uaccount. They restricted my account a month ago due to unusual activity (basically 3 accounts with paypal deposits and witdrawing dail cash). They are nearly iumpossible to get hold off & their online chat just fobs you off.

Any updates on your situation, I am also in a similar situation and I have a fair amount of money in my account! They are not replying to my emails etc.
