Do you think this will work?

I am trying to get a Canada Ebay and Paypal account. The reason is so I don't have to provide my SSN. I know I need a Canadian Address, Canadian IP, and Canadian Phone number. I found Purevpn.com looks to be the cheapest vpn, can I buy the 10 hour plan for $2.50, which means I have 10 hours of a Canadian Ip. Then I would open a Paypal and Ebay account, then I can use auctiva with my regular US Ip from then on? Since Auctiva doesn't report IP's would this work? I know I wouldn't be able to log into my account once the Canadian Ip 10 hours is up but I could buy the bandwith plan instead if that was a problem, because I will only need to log in for shipping details and leaving feedback.

Does anyone think this would work?

aspkin 02-28-2009 06:42 PM

Sounds like a good plan, let us know how it goes.

lakeman 02-28-2009 06:52 PM

I will try it out and post what happens.

I have one problem though, what do I do if I need to call Paypal for some reason? Say I get limited, and I need to call or fax something to get it removed? I would be using a number forwarding service, I couldn't call them with my U.S. number or fax, so what would I do?

You might try a service like eFax

They should be able to give you a Canadian fax number. You'd just scan the document and e-mail it. eFax makes it look like a fax from whatever your number is. In reverse people can fax to your number and you receive it as an e-mail with a .pdf attachment.

eFax is what I used when I was filing Vero counter-notices on a regular basis.

There might even be some free services out there.

lakeman 02-28-2009 08:38 PM

Thanks, that sounds good for faxing. Any ideas if I had to call them?

GreenBean 02-28-2009 09:38 PM

Should that arise, you might say you are away on vacation ;). Make sure that you have ID & security questions. Be confident.

Excellent idea Greenbean!

This seems like it should work,, I will post how it goes. Thanks guys! :)

It may work but how are you supposed to pay ebay fees. Why don't you buy a vpn router for like $30 they go cheap on ebay. It allows you to create up to 5-8 vpns on a dedicated ip.

After I made this thread I was thinking, I just need to go with $24 for 6 months.

Can you explain how I would use a VPN router? Would I be able to have my normal router working at the same time? I don't understand how it works, would I have to buy a service for it?

jesseinkaron 03-01-2009 02:04 PM

The Ip won't be a problem Lakeman !

you can sign up canadian accounts from a USA ip address.
You can log in whenever you want as long as the ip has not been used for another suspended account. You will need to do a phone verification , but you can change the number whenever you want , it doesn't have to be the number you used to register.

Please correct me if I am wrong ... but this has worked for me

mwargin 03-01-2009 02:24 PM

I was thinking of using this method too...my question is when they ask you to fax then id and proof of address for Canada what do you send?

Burning 03-01-2009 08:53 PM

Just send them a fax from an internet fax service like efax.com

lakeman 03-02-2009 01:16 PM

Good question mwargin, anybody have any ideas when this comes up?

Burning 03-02-2009 03:51 PM

ooo, just use imagination ;)

lotsof baskets 03-03-2009 10:49 AM

Lakeman, what are you doing about the bank account?

Burning 03-03-2009 03:26 PM

You are allowed to use a us bank account on paypal canada. Also you can use cartmanager and link your old paypal account.

lakeman 03-03-2009 04:26 PM

Yes, I am using my U.S bank account, I have done everything but add a Credit Card. I had 2 Vanilla Visa's but I registered them with two other accounts I made(in the U.S.) I plan to pick up a Vanilla Visa tonight and add it to my account. So far it looks good. :D

Burning 03-03-2009 05:39 PM

Yea, it is kinda easy to make a Canada account. You just need some photoshop skills. If you look a little into some other forums you can get dedicated vpn's for $5.

I have bad news, my Canadian Account got suspended and I have no idea why. I listed 2 very cheap items, one a couple days after the other and then I got a suspension email with no description, but the title says abusing Ebay. I emailed asking why, there response is below. I really wanted to keep this account to get by the SSN. But now they are asking for all of this info and its a stealth account. What do I do?

Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay. My name is Raymond, and I appreciate the

reference; (b) if we are unable to verify or authenticate any
information you provide to us; or (c) if we believe that your actions
may cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or us."

This action has been taken for the safety of all eBay members. This is
