Default Credit Card Chargebacks

So I've been with my bank and had my visa debit card since December 2009.

I had two transactions from ebay that did not go smoothly at the end of 2010, and I decided to finally file two chargebacks with my bank which went through fine in February 2011. (It was a very long story and several problems etc with ebay resolution center so I had to go to my bank).

I have been using ebay quite often since I got my visa debit in December 2009, and have not had any problems/chargebacks besides from these two.

I was wondering whether I should start buying less things from ebay because if it really comes down to it, I'd like to know that my bank has my back, but I don't know if they will help me next time because of those two chargebacks from last month.

I'm not expecting another problem, and these two transactions are the only problems I've had like I said since I started using ebay, but if I use ebay less, then of course the risk of anything happening will also be less. But, will my bank be happy to issue chargebacks if it ever comes down to it again?

All depends on the amount AND the number/frequency. 2 in the last month is definitely risky from the bank's viewpoint but you must lay low on the chargebacks for another fiscal cycle (i.e. 1 year).

Banks will generally side with their customers when it comes to chargebacks, but RSOT is correct. The more you file, the less likely the bank will want to continue to do business with you.

A chargeback should be your last option. I don't know the specifics of your case, so I am not saying that you misused this.

Scam artists certainly do exist on eBay. But if you cannot work out a problem with the seller, eBay is usually VERY buyer friendly.

So, DON'T get ripped off. By all means, file chargebacks if you have to. But try everything else first.

I agree Chargeback is definitely a last resort. It can't look good from the banks POV.
