The issue I see with that is the limited count of bitcoins. Had there been more bitcoins floating around, this may seem more reasonable.

I disagree. They are divisible to like 8 decimals. I do suspect at some point it could be priced in Bits rather than whole coins. The issue right now is still the scaling debate. Segwit is a patch while it grows. Its not a complete fix and transactions costs are still way to high for Micropayments.

BTC is taking the right path, you don't want to grow fast because that will lead to ruins..
