I foresee them all disappearing in the rather short run (relatively speaking) leaving only the established and reputable coins.
And theres nothing wrong with having several dozens cryptocoins in existence (as opposed to thousands of course) - you have several hundred fiat currencies as well. | Its hard to kill Cryptos even Bitconnect. Many will survive but the ICO's like 99% are scams right now. Lots of rent will be paid to the HODLers and tokens/teams that actually have competent developers. These ICOs and the most Altcoin pumpers are just mining the market for money. |

These ICOs and the most Altcoin pumpers are just mining the market for money. | What I suspect will eventually happen is that all of these coins will each have their own specific values based on a variety of common factors like individual market capitalization, acceptance, usage and who knows what else and what will keep them viable will be adherence to a set of parameters that Im certain will be introduced to regulate the exchanges.
Im also sure that some sort of international agency will be created that will be responsible for creating and enforcing the parameters for both Exchanges and Crypto currencies.
I can clearly see such an agency creating a list of Crypto Currencies that MUST be supported by all Exchanges OR possibly naming 1 default Crypto Currency that MUST be accepted by all exchanges to facilitate trading between exchanges.
Such an agency will also probably create some list of criteria that ALL current and future Crypto Currencies MUST adhere to in order to be traded on any exchange.
Something along the lines what I just laid out is coming to the Crypto world I can ASSURE you. Governments and the powers that be will NOT allow Crypto Currencies to go unregulated. |

Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... trying to get all my money out of my bank and into bitcoin or ripple......hold all of it until end of year for that 25k figure I believe it will happen.
I bet China will eventually come around in the future and reverse ban on cryptos....
I cant really think of anymore bad news to plague cryptos on a possible ban from anywhere........I think the bad news will just go to individual coins or companies......minor effects.....
I think it will go on the up and up at this point 1 trillion market cap.
I am betting my entire savings for 25k at the end of the year.....its inevitable...if not this year next year......
if the 5 trillion market cap is real.......it will be heavily spread out through 100s of coins like how it is now....... |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... I also believe a lot of the cons of crypto are being ironed out with new teams and companies finding ways to make spending cryptocurrency become fixed so volatility won't be a problem.
It looks like they solved the speed issue with bitcoin already........transactions are crazy fast now........
So I believe 2022, Cryptocurrency will be advanced technology where people can hold their money without dealing with banks that is fixed so on a day to day basis we don't have to worry about our money losing value.......and spend it at a lot of stores that will eventually adopt a coin that they believe is good for their business.......its only a matter of time.
Big Businesses like amazon, ebay, paypal, walmart, and a lot of others will probably play along also......
And the police, well.....they will have advanced detection with new tools to try to trace funds across the network.......they will get smarter through time as well.....
In the future, the bank can possibly die out.....but that would take something close to 30-50 years...........its hard to convince old people who are set in their ways with banks.......eventually crypto will have just about all the functions of a bank.........but convincing people to change to new tech.....that will easily take decades....... |
| slapped | 04-20-2018 12:01 PM | Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... I agree 100% with everything you said,, except your price prediction timeline. Regulation is the only thing that will make this change happen, and that is way off. Unless Nations can somehow regulate Cryptos they will NOT allow them to replace conventional currency, plain and simple.
Allow me to give you another perspective on this. Take a look at our last Presidential Election, with all the talk of Russian, Meddling, phony news, ads and whatever else. At the CORE of ANY attempt to influence an election whether it be here or anywhere else in the world is MONEY.
It takes Money and lots of it to influence an election. That is the MAIN reason that there is talk right now of imposing financial sanctions on wealthy Russian individuals. It is because these individuals money was linked to political stories of ads running on Facebook, twitter and wherever else.
Can you imagine the potential effect that individuals or Governments themselves could have if they had the ability to funnel essentially untraceable, unlimited funds into the election process of ANY country? That's only 1 example, now think about Terrorism funding, and the effect Crypto currencies can potentially have in all of these dark areas.
If you think that Governments are going to rely on the possibility that law enforcement will someday develop methods to trace these transactions, your crazy.
These are only a couple of reasons why Governments around the world will keep these Crypto currencies in check |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... even if cryptocurrency hits a 5 trillion market cap........thats still a very small percentage compared to how much money flows in this world..............
It wont completely replace traditional currency...........99% of the world still trust in it......cryptocurrency really has only convinced 1 percent of the world.........
I am somewhat a believer that bitcoin can hit 250k per bitcoin in 2022,
90% of the people in the world are fairly mentally slow people......its pretty easy to get them to follow the herd for the bull run.
in the grand scheme of things if you were to just think of 1% of the world into cryptocurrency.......bitcoin will hit 25k by the end of the year....... |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... the 5 trillion market cap......is only about a 3-6% stake in the entire worlds supply of money that is circulating.....
from my research, their is roughly 60-75 trillion dollars floating in the world......
tim draper believes their is a 100 trillion dollars floating in the world.
If crypto was to hit 5 trillion roughly the other 94% of the money is still sitting in many other types of investments and regular traditional currencies......
so it will still be relatively small in the big global picture. |

Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... If we're lucky it'll, drop back down there. The goal should be to take up as much real-estate on the Blockchain as possible. I really don't want to do that at prices above 10k.
If your only looking for fast money (not my thing/high risk) your better off with small market cap coins. The smaller the cap the easier the push to 10x. For BTC to 10x we'd have to be at 80k and change. Not going to happen any time soon. There is too much of a psychological barrier. No one is going to want to spend that much for a coin. FOMO will make people make bad decisions, but not that bad.
Raven Coin would be the type of small cap coin to look for, its only listed on a decentralized exchange (Crypto Bridge), it had no pre-sale, pre-mine, or dev tax. It uses a ASIC resistant algo called X16R that cycles through multiple algo's making it very difficult to design a ASIC for. The CEO of OverStock has invested a lot into the project and when and if it does get listed on a big exchange the price will most likely 10x.
The problem I have with it besides the name/brand is, I dont see it solving any major world problems any time soon or possibly ever. And I'm not totally sold on the Dev team. They're from MIT but like I said, I'm not sold. |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... Nate - Do you know any companies solely working on blockchain (and doing a good job)?
P.S. talking specifically of blockchain tech. as oppose to bitcoin. :) |
Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... No, not really.. I like the concept behind SIA coin. But I dont know if they are doing a good job. I do know that when I went to import my SIA coin from my paper wallet it took 4 days to sync the block chain, then while it was importing my transactions it said complete, even tho all my transactions were not complete which made me think I lost my coins. That left a bad taste in my mouth that should be something easy to design. Which leads me to believe they are not.
Ethereum is doing a good job. But I'm not 100% sure they solve any word problems yet. And they have too much control over the project, also there is the issue with them possibly being a security. But I doubt the SEC will come down on them for their ICO pre-sale. Now they are a utility token. There is also the problem with changing from POW to Proof of Stake. From everything I've heard nothing but Proof of Work will truely work out and keep a project decentralized. But I do believe that ETH will at least 3-5x in the next year or so.
But when it comes to making money with Crypto nothing makes sense... A lot of the people investing are young and stupid. So the normal rules dont apply
BTW, WTF is Emprie selling that he isnt verified for? His tag says unverified seller.
Let me find out it's Nano (RiaBlocks) |

Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... 99.99% of ICO's are scams... or they will fail because they dont realize yet that what they want to do is a lot harder to accomplish than they think.
Not much different from buying a loto ticket.
Unless you have a sh!t ton of money to blow... There are better ways to invest.
I'd suggest everyone start depositing money right now into Coinbase to move to GDAX...
Anything under 7k is a good buy (x3 returns from ATH).... I set buy orders at 7k, 6.5k, 6k, 5.5k and 5k...
The next halving is less than 23 months away.... (April 2020). There is a 99.99% chance that BTC will at least double in price before than. |
| duffrageous | 06-01-2018 09:32 PM | Re: Bitcoin @ 7k and dropping bad... If you are saving money or looking for the right time to invest, you should be rooting for a return to the 3k level. Holding isn't a great strategy in this downtrend. I've been fortunate enough to almost break even since January's high through luck and taking advantage of people that hold through every bounce although I mostly hold myself. I had 5btc in BCN right before it 30xed on binance thanks to an insider API alert a few days earlier, but Poloniex froze my withdrawal due to their buggy wallet, so I couldn't even sell for 10x profit. I ended up selling at 1.5x profit when they returned my BCN 3 days later. Hitbtc users got their withdrawals hours later and were able to sell at 2-20x profits. Maybe I'll get a crypto lawyer, but I doubt there would be any success in that.
You should work on ICOs, exchanges, marketing, crypto hedge funds, or anything crypto related instead of holding. Those are better places for your funds. I'd say sell 50% of your crytpo holdings and use the proceeds toward crypto businesses. I'm in a 300-member crypto discord whose owner charges .05btc a month just for various calls and relays. I just want to get away from trading or holding as soon as posible. |
