Activity: 0% Longevity: 37% | | How-to Find HOT Items To Sell on EBAY Hi, I'm getting ready to open a new account on Ebay and want to become a "TOP Rated Seller" and be able to list my products under the "TOP Rate Plus" listings.
I noticed that there are a lot of Ebay sellers who know how to list a variety of products as "TOP Rated Plus" listings, but I was wondering how they were able to quickly get to that level of being able to sell so many products and list them under the "TOP Rated Plus" listings.
I haven't actually opened my account as of yet, but I want to ensure that I'm going to NOT waste my hard-earned money by investing in products. So I want to be sure that I'm able to find the hottest items to sell.
How do I find hot items or what is the way to do "niche research" for Ebay?
I'd greatly appreciate any starting points from advanced Ebay sellers. Thanks in advance! |
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

well, you can go look for completed / sold items on eBay and figure out what you want to invest in.
There's also a platform called terapeak that you can use to look at the research on what sold.

Top Rated doesn't really mean anything, anymore...so don't get too hung up on it.

There are a few main things that you would need to do to become a successful eBay seller. The 3 main things that I'm talking about are: 1. eBay Niche Research 2. eBay Keyword Research 3. eBay Competition Analysis If you're really lost, a good place to start is on step "1." which is to find a HOT niche. You can do this by using "niche research". Here's good video as a starting point that is definitely up-to-date information about how to find HOT products to sell on eBay: eBay Niche Research
I'm sure that you'll find this video useful as a great starting point.

Forget doing a Google search as the results are often poisoned with paid ads "guides" and other confusing stuff.
SaiJin has the right idea. You are mainly interested in what ACTUALLY SOLD. Not what people are CLAIMING will sell. You need to look at actual sales, not read some guide or other crap about what items are "hot" right now on many of those Google links.
This is where it really pays to do your research. Terapeak is one tool to find good items that actually move well, whereas good old fashioned eBay completed items search is the next best way.
Follow the money, be alert, pay attention. Do your homework. There are more than a few items that sell faster than pancakes.

Try to not be insulted but: you don't have the skill set to be in the 'hot' market or you wouldn't have to ask these questions.
Chasing after 'hot' products will just get you killed. Today's hot product is cold by the time you source it at a good rate and get the listing up and running, then you're stuck with tons of dead inventory you have to sell at a loss.
Youre better off to look for steady, consistently good selling items with an excellent profit margin that you can reliably source and ship inexpensively.

Activity: 0% Longevity: 37% | | Re: How-to Find HOT Items To Sell on EBAY Well, not to be insulting, but that should have already been obvious since that is why I was asking the question to begin with. The point that I think you're missing though is that it's still good to look ahead into the near future, just to get ideas (a good starting point) of how to get their the quickest way.
It is indeed FACTUAL that there is a way to get there in the quickest manner, but that's what the BIG questions is, "how do we do it?" because nobody knows with 100% certainty what eBay's next move will be or next BIG algorithm (such as "Cassini") according to the videos that "AceBay" shared. I did learn quite a few valuable tips from the videos (and thanks again Ace for the BIG help!).
I don't think that I'd agree with your theory that everyone faces this same problem that you're having, just because you've had this problem or are still having it.
I do know of some people where it didn't take long to find hot products and begin to make regular sales. Of course a lot of people don't want to tell you their secrets, but I expect that when asking these types of questions.
Also, I saw in the videos that Ace shared, it is pretty logical that there are "Hot Signals" that eBay reveals which is valuable information to sellers. Even if you took a quick look into the HTML of eBay where it shows the amount "SOLD" or "2,020 viewed per day" (for example), you can see that eBay themselves clearly show you that in the HTML that these are indeed "Hot Signals" along with that little flame.
And if you're taking into consideration what "eBay Cassini" is looking for, then you will know how to get there at a much quicker rate.
I've really learned A LOT in the last couple of days. I highly recommend that you watch those videos as well.
I appreciate the tips that all of you have shared with me. Again, I've learned a lot and appreciate all of you! Quote:

Even if Cassini loved spoiled beans and promoted spoiled beans constantly, they wouldn't be 'hot'.
Don't invest any money until you've correctly predicted 8 out of the 10 next trends.

What I am doing is always checking the competitors feedbacks and looking for what items are being sold mostly : -)

You have to "dig" very deep to find products potentionaly "hot" and then when you complete a cycle of sales YOUR competitors checking your feedback can get this deal also.
But its too late anymore as you built a good sale's history and you got all bacon into your house before the others |

Bumping an old topic to help this guy.
Apart from stealth youll get very little help.
Poor guy didnt get one nibble of info he didnt already know from the get go. Wow. Just wow.
Ill tell you what I sell. Dude I sell antiques and idk anything about the market. Ive never been an antiquer and i dont travel the world finding them. The only problem you'll run into trying antiques are the dirtbag sellers who bid up your listings and dont pay. Filtering for feedback 5+ is of little help in avoiding them.

Id be willing to bet very few of us sell any TRUE niche stuff. I mean if you wanna say baseball bats or baseball supplies are niche everyones selling niche. A true niche item would be something more like mink oil for baseball gloves, now thats niche. A little truth from an ebay seller should be written in a bible because everyone is so afraid to tell what they sell.
I saw a guy shipping shirts in jewish/israel bags a month ago at the local usps and i said ahhh pro-israel shirts now thats niche and he said nah man theyre just plain shirts rofl. If this were true i wonder how many people grabbed that bag and was like wtf? Im not religously sensitive but id think twice before doing that.

Your better off to sell 'sleepers', things that people want to purchase that aren't 'hot' with a million competitors cutting each others throats for sales.

Sniping becomes harder and harder. I think just selling everyday goods is the best.

I can show you listings that sold much more then 5k but the real question is: In what timeframe? Listings can be set to "good until canceled" and run for years. I've seen listings with over 114k sales (Item id 381067869942) but this listing exists since 2014! Item ID 200326327516 sold 29k but exists since 2009! Another reason they sell so good is the price, if you can afford to sell this item at that price point you will also sell a lot.
Just saying
