All this talk that if paypal is used to buy on dhgate it will cause account suspension is utter rubbish. The potential problems only arise if you then try and sell the items using the same pp account.

Even if they axe the pp account, what's the big deal? Go and register another vcc, set up a new account and continue buying.

Why is it that they allow you to buy from there but the minute you start selling those items on that PP they axe you... never understood the concept?

Because it is then clear to them that you're reselling the stuff you've bought on Dhgate (99% of which is counterfeit). Funnily enough, Paypal doesn't like this.

GreenBean 03-11-2012 04:27 AM

Paypal is such an amazing company :fight: :pound:

Callidus 03-11-2012 05:37 AM

Yes DHGate most will be counterfeit but was aiming my comment more to the people who are purchasing non branded goods...

Also even if your using PP to pay a Chinese seller not through one of those sites, they still end up holding money after 1 or 2 payments..

eBay King 03-11-2012 09:23 PM

What is wrong with using a Credit Card / Debit Card directly on DHgate?

That is the way I have been doing it for years. Not one problem ever.

There should be no need to pay through PP via a Credit / Debit Card.
I would not want my personal address going on a PayPal database ever.

If you start doing chargebacks on DHgate, you will be blacklisted. Any problems are best sorted out via the DHgate resolution centre and discussion with the seller.

As long as you choose the right seller on DHgate, start off small, what can go wrong? Picking the right seller takes only marginal skill and the payment is still not released to the seller by DHgate until you have your item.

There are genuine items on DHgate too, just needs work finding them.

(Note: I do not work for DHgate! :D)

boszika 03-12-2012 09:42 AM

@Ebay King-Agreed. At least when you use your credit card, you get rewards back. What do you get from Paypal besides headache?
Just a warning Dh doesnt accept Mastercards.

rsot 03-12-2012 12:26 PM

@boszika, I went back to dhg to buy something personal but it's weird...every time I want to pay by credit card, it always go to Pp site to process the cc...do you know of a way to force just using the dhg's cc processor and not PP?

boszika 03-13-2012 10:47 AM

@rsot-Hmm...Odd.When it says pay for your order,it always has the cc option.

I didnt pay with cc for a while now, just with WU,because I only had Mastercards. My next order I will use my new cc,that I'm waiting in the mail.

I will let you know how it went, in the meantime maybe try a different browser :noidea:

i think if you send a lump sum to a chinese suppliers paypal there is always a risk of it getting held and returned........as the supplier may already be under scrutiny by paypal

but i dont think sending money to dhgate will cause issues, this is a big reputable company, although it is renowned for phakes

i used to pay my old supplier with moneygram every time,no issues, its just finding a trustworthy supplier

i made a purchase off dhgate not so long back using prepaid visa credit card

went straight through no problems

@rsot not sure if this will help but i told the supplier beforehand i was paying with credit card and he sent me an invoice

Recherché 03-13-2012 05:49 PM

Using a stand alone Paypal account (eBay attached to it permanently suspended two years ago), I have purchased almost $50,000 using that same Paypal account to buy from DHGate. No problems obviously with limitations and whatnot.

irdogg 03-18-2012 09:52 PM

what kind of fees are attached? i saw some stuff i want

teedon 03-19-2012 06:09 AM

You have to ask what payment methods your supplier accept for and then choose the best safest one for you.As we known, different suppliers, different situation;different stuff, different situation.

If you are about to purchase OEM products from factory ,and the best safestl payment is LC but now most people using T/T deposit, balance against B/L copy or against inspection third party full QC report,of cource ususally the buyer have been meet the supplier before this deal.

If you are about to buy small QTY(usually shipping by express mail),most chinese sellers only accept paypal ,if you think paypal is not fair,i donot think they will agree on a deal with you easiler.Of cource, wholesale platforum like DHGATE or aliexpress are excluded.

Like some people said before, you can buy a small QTY to start, slowly you will know how to deal and then you are able to share your experience here.

degsey69 03-19-2012 07:17 AM

teedon is right and also remember if you are doing a wire transfer from here in the states the banks are required to know why you are transfering money and may also require sight of an invoice at a branch, also the cost at my bank if you do not have online facilities is $65, so if you are doing a 30% 70% payment it is another $130 onto your goods purchase price.

newjerseymax 03-19-2012 08:24 AM

I would od this.

I would rent a address (PO Box or UPS) depending on shipment. Create a stealth paypal for buying only. Do not attach ebay. I fund the paypal with a gift card. Its good for disputes (paypal protection). If account gets closed then no big loss. Also, if address gets flagged by customs for some reason then you will not lose anything real.

Good idea?

jpy295 04-22-2012 07:59 PM

thaks for the Aliexpress source im checking it out now

jamcocktail21 04-23-2012 12:24 AM

I used to buy from dhgate before with paypal(with ebay attached)

Did not have any problems

Just my 2 cents

GofortheGold 04-29-2012 02:41 PM

If you really want to be safe, purchase using a PayPal using a credit card. If you don't get the merchandise you can dispute, and then if that doesn't work you can always resort to a chargeback. That way, you'll have two layers of protection.

Re: importing from china

Recently my paypal was limited, sent in required documents and was good to go. A few days passed and I sent $4000 to a Chinese supplier. 12 hours later I get this message "YOU CAN NO LONGER USE PAYPAL, TOO MUCH RISK, BLAH BLAH BLAH".
I'M NEVER PAYING A CHINESE SUPPLIER THRU PAYPAL AGAIN!

Re: importing from china

It is too risky! I was planning to use paypal to buy directly from the suppliers.
Thanks to all that posted experiences and opinions.

Re: importing from china

I use bank wiretransfer, true wholesalers do not accept credit cards, consider the size of the transaction,it eats too much into their margin
