I have had a few frustrating days trying to sort out the best payment method to pay on alibaba.
After allot of emails I paid last night.
I then got this message this morning.
hello my friend,
Thank you for your payment.
We will arrage the goods out today and let u know the tracking later.
It will be online 2-3days and please confirm the shipping address
as soon as you receive the goods,please confirm the shipping on alibaba.
Then I got this

Really sorry that we already shipped out the goods to the shipping company but the shipping company told us that fedex are with too many goods blocked and the goods can not be out before the holiday.
Then the goods can arrive you after our holiay Feb26th around.
Can you wait till then? cause there's no other ways.
Very frustrating.
Is this the norm?
Should I not have tracking information now?
Wouldn't they know before they shipped it that it could be delayed?
In a previous email yesterday I was told that I should order today because they go on holidays in the next few days for the new year.
I can understand the holidays but feel let down that I now have to wait ages?
Any advice would be great .

I prefer to have stopped all sales, and therefore deliveries, for two weeks before the New Year celebrations.
Things do go into shut down, in a big way. I hope you are not drop-shipping? |

OP With Fedex being as fast as they are, if they were to ship your parcel via them it would have departed there country within 24 hours, then the delay would be no longer..
But for them to tell you that Fedex have to much back log they would have known this before you placed your order.
As most courier companies have cut off dates for holidays.
Ask for a refund if you are not happy to wait.
Because the delay will still be there even after the holiday is over since they will have to ship all post they received after the cut off date. |

I paid through alibaba with my bank so should be covered if the goods are not correct.
I replied to the latest email asking for a tracking number and also quoting an email i was sent yesterday
{we just want to ship the goods as soon as you made payment and if u always delay,I am afraid,you can only but after our holiday about Feb28th.}
this is the reply i got

we ship the goods to hongkong FedEx firstly and then they operate.

Holiday starts in a couple days. I received notice that today was the last day items could ship for example. |

It is almost always done via a third party called a "Forwarding company" So the seller places order with factory, factory then processes it, then forwarding company picks up, processes shipping with carrier and then delivers to the carrier.
Odds are the factory or the Forwarding Company is already closed or backlogged. |

They could have shipped it but what he means is that the tracking number won't say anything (not online) or they didn't even send it yet and don't have the tracking number. Tell them you know it will take until after the holidays but if they have it to send it either way if it's not online so you know when it starts after the holidays. |

MOST of the time your tracking number will show nothing for 2-3 days. Very much like you or I printing a label but not giving it to USPS and then USPS not scanning the package. This is almost a given with DHL because a "Forwarding company" usually drives the package from China across the causeway into Hong Kong and then drops off at DHL HK.
This does not mean that your seller did not ship it. It means that Fedex etc.. has yet to receive it. It is another step or two for most alibaba sellers of small quantities. |

They told me there where no problems there end.
So its as some of you have said it was a backlog with the factory or something.
So I replied questioning the hold up with FedEx and this is what they replied.

so I replied apologising , even though I was only asking questions in the original email. I don't want to cause anyone any stress or offend anyone.
so then I get this today .
it is ok.
we have started our holiday and will be back on Feb26th.

I feel like a little kid who has given some older boys some money to go and get them a can of beer , and they just don't bother coming back.
I always assume the best of people but I feel like they have let me down.

You'll get it just have to wait longer this time of the year. Next time find another supplier or once you order again or higher quantity they will give you more priority. Just the way it is |

Then you will magically get new tracking numbers after the holiday after they blame fedex for losing the original package. Aliexpress will do nothing to help. Youre just kinda beat. I've had this same exact issue. Its not about priority. Everything is shut down there right now |

I'm sure everything will be fine, it's just frustrating to have to wait.
Emails don't give you a good idea on the other person's attitude, so they may be okay with you but without any facial expressions it's hard to know.. different culture and translation issues.
Don't feel down, and just get planning for when your parcel lands! :D |

Most of these companies on alibaba use agents to get better deals and thats usually where the backlog with tracking not updating happens |
