Default Question about using the same password

This may be a silly question, but when beginning a fresh STEALTH account, can eBay, Cookies etc....recognize or somehow link you if you used the same password as in a previously suspended account?

I know you should always change your password regardless, but sometimes you want to use the same password until you get around to change it.

Thanks!

NEVER SMART,

Just use different passwords. i always keep a file with all the info about me stealth account next to my PC and save it on the user account that i use for that account. I don`t worry about accounts getting hacked or something just make sure it is nothing that can link you to a old account. I always use the first and last name from the account and than a number behind that.

I bet eBay can read all your passwords. They are probably all accessible to staff. Use different pw's.

WHY not use different passwords?

I mean as long as you are NOT sure of a linking issue, always asume a "YES" for answer

My guess; probably not a reason for immediate linking, but if they look in detail 2 of your accounts, this could be the final detail to link you...

passwords do not matter. I can't remember who it was, but they used the same passwords for all of the accounts and never had a problem. I started using the same password and no problems here either.

I have to disagree with you on that one. I've used the same passwords since around 2000 on all my accounts. never had a single one linked to another account. If you got linked I would think it would have to be for some other reason.

I think the point is why risk all your hard work creating multiple stealth accounts for no reason at all? I am sure each of you is keeping a log of all your stealth info for each account, with name address, date of birth etc. Why not simply add a line to that sheet or XLS and have a different password? I have not been here long, but one thing has been pounded into my skull over and over again by those operating stealth successfully long term and that is "everything should different". I have followed this rule and it is working. In every way ebay can see, you are a different person. Nothing matches across accounts.

Yes, passwords might just be fine to keep the same for all accounts, but pick your battles. Don't take unnecessary small chances. Value your time and effort.

All im saying is that IF you give Ebay a reason to investigate you, they will look into passwords to link you if all else fails as they did me

if i accidentally typed a password that was from a suspended account on a new active account, would that be grounds for suspension?

Catch 22, as far as I am concerned: there will be users here that are REALLY computer savvy and can manage accounts well. There are others who have not the same skills.
So considering that the 'stealth' way as a 'new person' is suggested for ebay, then a new password is better. From my own perspective, if a ebay account is closely examined for whatever reasons, the use of the same password may be problematic.

I agree! i would never use the same password... If I could change everything else, why not pick up a new password as well.
