Re: Accepting Merchant credit cards ? What should I do?
It's a nightmare even for USA citizens. Not sure if you'd be able to outside of USA.
1) Open an authorize.net account
2) Open a merchant account with the financial institution of your choice. Have multiple forms of ID ready, all your business information, marketing materials, detailed return policy, bank account info, etc.. You'll need all of that to apply for a merchant account.
3) Go into eBay account settings and enter your "API Key" from auth.net, and that links your eBay to your merchant account
4) Call/message eBay and have them finalize the process so you can start accepting direct CC payments. There's something only they can do before your merchant account will become active on eBay.
5) Prepare to lose 90% of your sales if you stop accepting Paypal - Most buyers refuse to pay any other way and Paypal is the only payment processor compatible with eBay on mobile platforms. I send at least 10 messages daily telling customers to "please switch to eBay on a laptop or desktop and your payment will go through."
Personally I recommend just accepting CC payments through Paypal unless you're selling on your own website. Not worth the headache on eBay. :(
