Your complaint is an 'allegation', meaning 'unproven'.
Until a judge issues a verdict, it's just that - an allegation.
How many people do you think file complaints with the IC3 every day? Hundreds? Thousands? From all over the country.
Where do you think your 'complaint' is going to line up against hundreds or thousands of cases where somebody steals some old woman's life savings?
How many complaints do you think get investigated on an average day? If they decide there's a criminal act, it still has to go to a state's attorney or some other prosecutor for possible action.
Then, if the state's attorney runs out of violent crimes like murders and rapes and armed robbery to prosecute, it may eventually go to trial. And maybe the state's attorney will win, but maybe they'll lose.
You kind of get where I'm going here... ?
It doesn't hurt to complain, just don't get all excited.
Best case scenario you'll be one of many accumulated complaints against this one individual that they're saving up to make the aggregate crime total exceed some limit that means real jail time. |
