Has anyone got help or had success by reporting to IC3?

One of the items I sell now is a semi-common item to get chargebacks on, I used to sell Go Pro's but there was no way I could justify the problems for that category for the little profit I made, so I abandoned those altogether. But this new item gives me a little room to absorb a certain amount of loss, which I have learned to endure and fight a little but to keep from pulling my hair out over when the "rules" favored my tormentors.

But lately it's been (I'm convinced) the same person/crew that's doing the problem purchases from me, filing disputes that say they didn't get it, or that it's phake or something else when there is tracking. I think if I fought them they might not stop, but they might stop messing with MY listings.

One thing I've seen mentioned on here a bit is IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center) ... has anyone gotten any real help or had any success by reporting something to them? What if the buyer isn't using real info?

The current troublemakers happen to be in the USA, so if I'm going to make a statement and go after them (and spend my time on this) these are the ones I want to go after.

Just wondering if it's worth my time, or if it's just an outlet where people vent and report and nothing really happens. Thanks!

You can try. On another thread people are saying I'm so negative for saying this, but here's the bitter truth.

Your complaint is an 'allegation', meaning 'unproven'.

Until a judge issues a verdict, it's just that - an allegation.

How many people do you think file complaints with the IC3 every day? Hundreds? Thousands? From all over the country.

Where do you think your 'complaint' is going to line up against hundreds or thousands of cases where somebody steals some old woman's life savings?

How many complaints do you think get investigated on an average day? If they decide there's a criminal act, it still has to go to a state's attorney or some other prosecutor for possible action.

Then, if the state's attorney runs out of violent crimes like murders and rapes and armed robbery to prosecute, it may eventually go to trial. And maybe the state's attorney will win, but maybe they'll lose.

You kind of get where I'm going here... ?

It doesn't hurt to complain, just don't get all excited.

Best case scenario you'll be one of many accumulated complaints against this one individual that they're saving up to make the aggregate crime total exceed some limit that means real jail time.
