big help needed. Bought account, didn't use for 10 months, phone expired

So I bought my account here and I never set it up. Now I am setting this Ebay account up to use.
The phone number that came with the account order is deactivated now...
Is it ok if I change the phone number in my Ebay and Paypal? What is the risk I am looking at? And how should I go about updating to a new phone number in both of these?

You can add a new number to both but in my personal experience the new number won't be useful to your account for at least a couple of months. Like if you're trying to add a new phone so you can get past a verification page on Paypal you'll have to wait a long time for the number to be one of the "text me" options. I can't say for certain if that's standard policy or if it's even supposed to happen like that, but that's what happened to me last year when I added a new phone to eB/PP.

Adding the number is easy. You just go into your accounts settings on each site.

BTW, it's said way too much around here, but you should always keep an active number on accounts. Or at least an active forwarding number.

before listing on ebay and adding a checking account on paypal, make sure you have A LOT of browsing history. Days worth.

Then add the new phone number. It can take MONTHS before paypal will use that number though.

Priorities for accounts
0. Access to Email
1. Access to Phone numbers

Agree with the others. Months before they accept it's yours.

You could change it now, and gear up for action in a month or two. :)

I had to change the phone number because Paypal asked to text a code that I could use to confirm the account. I got the code and am able to use the account.
