High limit accounts off the bat

Very frequently I'll see posts on here where a poster will claim to have created an account, and will call in to request a raise, and by "playing their cards right", they are able to get selling limits in the mid 100s or 1000s or some outrageous number. Sometimes, after selling anywhere from 0-3 items.

The most I've ever gotten is a raise to 100 items after a month of selling about 7 items. Never have I gotten anything in the 1000s, and I've probably created about 20 accounts so far.

Very often I see these posters promising to disclose their methods if anyone is interested, but they never seem to do so. Are there any sure fire methods that anyone can share (either publicly or privately) of ways to call in for these high limits? Anything like "make sure your PayPal is fully verified before creating your eBay" or something like that, that can raise the odds for a super high account limit?

You need to sell to your allowed selling limits and you will see automatic increase from eBay.

Email Ghost of Amazon, he's a big advocate for calling in, I'm sure he'll be glad to give you advice. :)

Other than that there's 62K threads on this, more than you could read in a week. :)

It's a mixture of luck and skill. You will need a rep willing to help you, most reps don't care what your limits are and don't want to bother helping you out.

Oftentimes I will get two increases in the first 30 days. Just sell to the limits and ship instantly.

In all reality, starting off with a 1000-$25,000 account is not good. You cant list or sell that much at first anyways. Might as well spend 60-90 days getting to that point just by selling and proving yourself to ebay.

I think starting with low limit account is a blessing in disguise. It stops you from overselling too fast in a short period of time that could lead to limitation/suspension.

I wonder what good those intially high limit accounts are good for? Since we can't sell that much right out of the gate...

once you have the account for a while you then have the higher limits there it could take longer than 2 months, for example, to raise a 10 item limit account to 1000 item limit

I use to do business accounts on ebay. Then call in and saw 5 items was too small, and they would upgrade it anywhere from 500 items $5000 to 2,000 items $25,000.

However, recently they have started suspending those accounts so I stopped making them and stopped calling in. The last business account I made without suspension was about 3 months ago.
