Need modem capable of switching mac addresses for Comcast
 

So my current modem is old as dirt. I'm not the best at change... Can anyone advise me on a fairly cheap modem that would allow me to change the mac address, but isn't very slow. I have the old surf board modem, and it barely utilizes the speed I pay for. I also have another modem/router combo from comcast, that IS very fast. But the combos don't seem to allow mac address changing.

When I had comcast I used the combo and would go back and forth from "router" to "bridge" mode and that was the only way I could get a new IP. I had 3 different old school modems I bought off eBay and tried to use and I swear all 3 of them pulled the same IP. I think it's how Comcast configures their accounts.

Anyway I don't know what to recommend. Hit up eBay if you're looking for a cheap modem or Walmart if you're looking for an up-to-date one.

I usually got my modems from Craigslist. very very cheap and they do the job.

Messing with modems is really slow, try tethering, vpns etc...

Takes me a minute to switch IPs, took me a while to figure how to do it though. What router do you have everyone is different but have you figured out how to login to the dashboard? If so do u see the MAC address in settings? mine is routerlogin.net
