Cant Reach Ebay though Google voice..
 

I am trying to call ebay about my account but it keeps giving me a message saying the wireless customer is not available.. which is strange as they are not a wireless #.

I am using google voice to do this, tried the real phone # on my phone that google voice is linked to, that would not work either, same error message.

Any idea whats going on here?

Also, My regular phone that i dont use for ebay works just fine when i call ebay customer service.

ok that is a temporary solution. I normally can call them no problem with this google #.

Yeah I hear you.. it's the first solution that came to mind honestly. It doesn't have to be temporary though. As long as they're still able to call your GV # then you can have them call you anytime and they can call you anytime they need to.

All I can think is that you've either called the wrong # (which I'm sure you've thoroughly checked) or they've recently changed one of their phone #'s and haven't updated the site yet. Or maybe there's something wrong with your GV account? I've only ever used GV for call forwarding so I don't have much experience in that realm. eBay calls my GV # and if I need to call in I spoof my GV #.

yea it is possible they are blocking google voice.. im starting to think so.

IM going to try the same google voice # on my other phone to see if it works.

No need to call out from the google voice number. Just use a callerID spoofing service such as spooftel.com, spoofcard.com, etc. to call eBay or PayPal. Even when you dial their toll-free numbers from the spoofing service, you can control what number(s) are sent to them.

So the minutes and data the tracfone I was using have expired..

but I am calling ebay through wifi with google voice which shouldnt need any data or minutes.. Im assuming I can still call through wifi but apparently not if the minutes have expired, even though im not using the minutes , im using wifi.

So if the original phone # linked to the google voice is out of minutes , then I cant use the google voice calling even though its through wifi?

I got gvoice to work fine with my other phone.

I put the GV # on my eBay account, and use spoofcard or itellus to spoof my GV number when I need to call in.

Working fine for 3+ years.

If the phone # linked to the GV is expired then your GV number is essentially useless. You can still spoof your number to call in with your GV number but you're screwed if they want to call you back (which they often do). Probably be best for you to start with a new GV # and use the spoofing route in the future.

On a side note, don't you have to have GV "credits" in order to make calls directly with your GV #?

Yes, it indeed does work and use spooftel myself to send them the # reg. on the account. The beauty of this system is the # on the account doesn't even have to be valid, working, or even assigned... All that matters is the incoming ANI/CID coming into PP/EB matches the account you are calling about.

FWIW, toll-free numbers generally can't be blocked via *67 because they don't transmit or use regular "CallerID". Toll free numbers are using a system called ANI (automatic-number-identification) but still can be spoofed using these aforementioned services.

I know nothing about POTS so the ANI info was interesting. Thanks. Haven't tried blocking my number with them but now I know I can tell others here doing so is futile.

I have recently learned that Tracphone charges for all call no matter what.

yea i think that even though I was using wifi.. tracfone may have been charging me for google voice minutes as I did call ebay quite a few times this month.

Gvoice does not need credits to call ebay (it may for other things)... i normally connect to wifi for better signal then call.. Its been free every time Ive used it.
Was not charged any $ , did not need credits.

So is it safe to assume that if you call someone through GV it's routed through your attached physical phone? I can't think of any other reason why your tracfone being out of minutes would affect your ability to make a call from within GV. If that does happen to be how GV calls work I wonder if your GV # even shows on the recipients caller ID...
