Ebay not as helpful as i thought regarding floods

hmm, im still keeping my guard up..
I finally called ( first time in 18 mos )
anyway , i live in texas, hit hard with floods, mainly hard goods damaged, i ordered most and paid the difference, but shipping delays, im at 12%
and have 5 negative feedbacks calling me a liar..

So i finally called ebay for help, i explained my dad has terminal cancer ( he does ) and ive been here and will return home when he passes.

they promised me they would call back,i waited, 3 hours at work after hours on a safe phone , i called them again, they are still working on my case, its a lot to go through, still working, but yet my late shipping rate is still 12%, wouldnt it go down?

would they have immediately said hey somethings not right?
the email made it sound like they really care, no feedback against you, nothing to fear on late shipping, or cancel orders - completely different in person..

For what it's worth - it doesn't usually show up instantly when they do remove defects.

Any update since yesterday?

I'm sorry to hear about your father.

can take days to remove a defect from the dashboard. I don't think even ebay is callous enough to not help Texas flood victims

Call them back again and try to get an agent that's actually not lazy and not of an IQ of a shrimp.

I remember a while back when there's a disaster, they do help with feedback and letting buyers be aware of what's going.

Andyou can always be proactive and grab the phone numbers of all your buyers and call them one by one.

Yeah, keep trying, but EB isn't noted for great help in these circumstances, they're justly famous for screwing you over and kicking you in the gut when you're down...

the email made it sound like they really care, no feedback against you, nothing to fear on late shipping, or cancel orders - completely different in person..

Several things:

NEVER tell eBay about your personal problems. They simply do not care. Also, my dog died/dad has cancer/granny had a heart attack/kid has polio is a story they hear 43029 times a day. They could not care less about your personal issues. Stick to the facts. Flooding is a good excuse. Personal issues are not. (Personally I feel bad for you, but eBay doesn't care, that's my point).

Second: Your account didn't go "poof" did it? Wow, imagine that, eBay didn't kill your account after calling them. That's because phones are used to communicate, not kill.

Next, make sure you select the appropriate choice when making a call. Select account, selling, DEFECTS, removing a defect. This will, 4/5 times, get you to an AMERICAN rep. They have more power and are generally more helpful than the Filipino reps you usually get in other categories.

DEFECTS can take time to show update on your dashboard, especially if there are several and you're appealing based on a natural disaster. Feedback will be removed within 5 mins. If a rep ever tells you they'll remove feedback and it's still there after 5 mins, they've blown smoke up your butt. Defects are different as the metrics update slower for whatever reason, plus they generally have to check multiple things to see if it's eligible.

Bottom line: Give it time, call in a few days if you don't see any updates. If you get a non US rep, hang up and call back again. Don't bother with the filipino reps...they're generally useless about these matters.

I don't know why there is so much hatred for ebay reps. I've had many that do care. I just got my account out of below standard. Talk to them enough, and THEY DO CARE.

I talked to an ebay rep from houston, for 2 hours, before Harvey hit. 20 of those minutes were ebay related. The guy freaken asked to hang out when he comes down in my area. They are HUMAN BEINGS TOO.

eBay reps are hit and miss.

Some are dumber than a box of rocks.

Some are no bull**** by the books.

Some are very chill and are sellers too, and want to help you out.

I'd estimate about 25% are in the last category.

It really comes down to the individual rep. You may call and get no help at all, then call back 12 hours later and have your issue resolved in 5 mins.

But don't call eBay, I don't care. Less hold time for me.
