rival seller problems

got a seller trying to undercut me and seems happy to sell items at cost price to force me out of the market, this person is good with the stealth accounts as they suddenly have numerous accounts appearing

do you wait your time and let them take some of your sales but not make any money? ive got top rated seller accounts but this person now knows that created new seller accounts will let appear at the top of the searchs :(

Nobody cares! Go hard or go home. In their eyes you don't come first! You need to realize that.

Nothing you can do about competition.
You already know what your options are and only you can decide which of those options youre going to choose.

Re: rival seller problems

If a competitor is clearly trying to sabotage my business, I usually sell the product at cost price (i.e. no profit). But that's just me, and it's only ever happened once.

That seller then called a truce, and those antics came to a swift end.

There is enough buyers on the market for both you AND your competitor to eat. Despite his price vs yours, see if you can provide BETTER and FASTER service than him, ie "ONE DAY SHIPPING GUARANTEED, ONLY 1 DAY OF HANDLING, FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY SHIPPING!" People love to see their items shipped the following day OR same business day.

Is this for 1 specific item or a variety of items? If it's just 1 item....match them price for price. Does the competitor have a better feedback score/quantity? Top Rated?

How long is handling time?

I've had success one time sending the seller a message and saying look... we sell the same items. Lets price at the same price point and let the buyers choose. No point in both of us losing $ chasing to the lowest price point

Not that anyone would care in this case, but price fixing is a violation of Federal Antitrust Law... mandatory serious jail time... don't confess stuff like this dude. :)

Pricing wars never end well.. I would avoid it if possible.

Re: rival seller problems

I always buy from competitor couple items and send them back (arrived damage) so he have to pay postage ect. + negative feedback
Ask freiends and family to do this same.
Some have enough and cancel auctions after they short of couple hundreds £££ :)

The question is: how many stealth accounts do you have set up and ready to fight this b#tch?

On the other hand I agree with the Boss... Pricing wars never end well... Just stay with your price and watch him go down. Maybe help your luck a bit with what pundek recommended.

I usually not at the bottom of price range and still make plenty of sales.

Cassini makes sure that not everyone is seen all the time. Plus, there are plenty of people that find products direct on google to you.

Just sell at margin that works for you and if you still have sales your good to go.

Wouldn't you rather sell 1 item and make $25 (example) then sell 25 of same item and make $1 on each? Some volume sellers have no clue.
