I have actually and simply shipped it back (It was a perfume bottle). I didn't think about reporting the vendor to the mother company and f*ck up his business though. I consider everything is fine provided that I got my money back. I don't see myself as a ghost hero whose job is to chase sellers and accomplish copyright justice. If the marketplace wants to ban a seller, fine they could do it, but I don't really like to be the reason behind banning someone!

I know some people despise this idea, but you should understand that in some cases that vendor's Ebay business might be all what they have and without it they could become unemployed

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

I once bought an alleged genuine charger for my phone off Amazon. The box, everything looked the same as the real product. It fried my phone during the first use and I had to replace my phone. Turns out the charger was a knock off. I was salty, I complained, their shop closed (from mine and other complaints). If their business is based on selling low quality, foo foo garbage....oh well.

If it was a one off accident that they got scammed themselves and thought it was a genuine item I wouldn’t have been as annoyed, but when the feedback spikes down and you ripped off more than one person....deal with it.

Exactly, but if 99% of customers are satisfied with a "safe" product, then I really don't see any problem in that (except for sure that the mother company might be loosing money). However, in the case of Apple for example, I don't have any compassion for them because THEY themselves ripped of governments off tax money they never paid.

I'm not sure which part of 'most people hate scumbags who sell phakes as real to ripoff customers' isn't easy enough to understand...

I know you've got a million complicated justifications for ripping off rights holders and customers, but the bottom line is if you do this you are a liar and a thief and a criminal and you deserve what happens.

People seem to have lost sight of the title of this thread: Apple is going to sue me!!!

Apple says they are suing him because the OP sold phake phone cords by putting 'Apple' in the title to make people believe they were real Apple products.

EB gave him a second chance and he swore never to do wrong again, but does the OP sound like a born-again true believer?

Seriously, this thread isn't a good look for you. I'd think you'd want to let this thread die of shame, but you just perpetuate it by saying things like:

if 99% of customers are satisfied with a "safe" product, then I really don't see any problem in that

everything is fine provided that I got my money back

I could go on forever, but why bother, you're obviously never going to see the light.

What Apple does to get tax cuts, like most other companies, does not concern you. I take every tax deduction I possibly can, spread losses and pro-rate over years to be able to pay the least amount possible. Do I deserve my items foo-foo’d because I don’t want the tax man to take any more of my money that the law allows me to keep untouched?

It doesn’t matter if your item is just as good or not. If someone owns something and they don’t want you making knock offs, you aren’t entitled to the high ground. You shouldn’t be selling or marketing foo items under their brand. If your item is awesome and compatible it’s not illegal to make add on products, just legally and ethically advertise them.

I’ve personally made a living selling add on items for Apple devices for years from 2008-onward and never had a single issue with them because I followed their guidelines and didn’t market them as endorsed products.

Sorry, that’s just the way it is and honestly the way it should be. If people could just make whatever and use logos of brands there would dilution and chaos.

@Gladiator:

Did your add-ons include cables at all? I don't think Apple is o.k with it unless they're mfi certified and that kind of certification is a hell of lengthy and costly process!

No. Just Cases, covers, decals, devices that changed the apples color in the MacBook cases, etc. I know someone who did sell cables but they were MFi certified, they just made colored/rolled up design cables with legit parts.

https://developer.apple.com/programs/mfi/

You can see why they have an issue with knock offs, those things can fry a phone. They have fried phones. If you market the cable without the endorsement it’s fine, if you use their logos on it it’s not. I believe the MFi allows you to put Apple endorsement logos on the packaging.

I suppose OP could have just sold those cables as generic and thus, avoided all this mess..

Why would you want to do that competition is good and what if someone done that to you, I’m sure you wouldn’t be happy if someone done that to you it seems your a bit shelfish. Remember this what goes around comes around just let be and crack on with whatever your doing. Although I do condone selling phakes it really p’s me off but hey it’s not my business so let be.
