Already Running Business

Has anyone gone down this line?

Purchasing an already running eBay business and how would one go about transferring all the details over etc and would you need to take over the paypal also or just the eBay account and you can link your own to it..?

This is a little tricky nowadays as you'll be logging in from a different location and potentially you'll have to change info within eBay itself. It's risky when you do so.

Would you be able to keep all the info and maybe change the Phone number alone?
Then overtime little by little change the other info one by one?

I think this is the better way rather than changing everything in one go.

Well basiaclly the guy who i am thinking of buying the business from his account has over 12k feedback and was made in 2005, he goes ill give you the paypal and the ebay and you can leave the information on there as you please and slowly over change it?

to be honest i dont see why changing the address and phone number would be a issue maybe the owner has moved his business elsewhere ?

It's tricky, because if ebay sees this and specially this is a higher profile account, they may think that the account was hijacked.

But since this is a real account belonging to the original owner, what he can do is call them up for you and change the info FOR you. But still, be prepared if they asked for proof of address or some sort of other documents to verify.

If done right, you can sell eBay and Amazon accounts.

It's legal to sell eBay accounts as part of sale of a business to another business. The seller has to call in and confirm and you will have to submit relevant documents. I know someone who did this as sale of a retail store a few years ago. I would call in to eBay to make sure that the policy hasn't changed.

No. Paypal accounts can not be transferred, AFAIK.

Re: Already Running Business

I purchased inventory from an ebay seller. She was burned out and her ebay store since 2007 was struggling with a below standard rating but I decided to just take it over due to the quantity of existing active listings. In hindsight I should have started my own store because of that low score. We thought with fresh energy we could turn it around but learned that there was no room for mistakes - which we made as part of the learning curve. The day that account was irrevocably restricted was the same day that I learned about linking because my previously great personal accounts were restricted as well. USE STEALTH as a standard for your future to protect your interests. Ebay does not care about your interests or your family or your good intentions.
However, prior to the restriction (we did not receive a warning, only the final gavel) we were successfully communicating personally with Ebay by verifying previous account details when we called in. So, if you absorb the existing store just make note of previous names, email addresses, mailing addresses, etc. for verification purposes. And, have the original owner add your name (or your stealth alias) to the account so you can freely talk with them without him/her present.
About Paypal - we changed the Paypal email address in all the existing listings and the transition was seamless there as our existing paypal account was in good standing. We created a new email address specifically for the ebay account and used that for the paypal account, adding that new email address to the paypal profile.
Hope this helps. It's a long answer, I know. I'm still ranting about my misfortune and so grateful for this forum and the Stealth guide to help get me back on my feet.

Do your due diligence here.

Selling eBay accounts which are a working business happen a lot in the UK.

They are not always a success and there are issues with the inflexible EBay crowd in Dublin.

You also need to be aware of this. I agree a 2005 account is good. But it might not have been active even ?!?! You need to check to check. Not that I know the person but my brother got an account like this. Big fizzle.

Regarding my comment of eBay Dublin, they can decline change of ownership papers.

Ask more questions please. Happy to try to reply.

I would not treat it any differently then buying an account here in sellers market.

Build up cookies on PC. Don't change much first couple months.

Its best to add bank accounts and such to PP without "deleting" previous information.

Make transition slowly. I am pretty sure this can be done seamlessly.
