| | | | | walkingupwards | 11-29-2017 07:21 PM | Something bad is going to happen. My main account (which was created 8 months ago) had a top rated status until recently. My actual status is above standard, but my projected one is below.
The account will have a below standard status for the period between 12.20.2017 - 01.20.2018.
Starting from the 01.20.2018 it will be top rated again.
I am not selling on that account anymore and it is technically abandoned. Traffic metrics are as follows:
Conversion rate = 0,0%
Impressions = - 100,0%
Page calling = 0,0%
I am considering deleting the account before its projected status becomes actual.
I called up Ebay customer service and the employee said he would consider this option if it was him and create a new account.
The account has around 50k in sales and 2000 positive feedbacks (99.9%).
The account is clean, even after I got veroed down I kept calling Ebay and explaining the situation until one employee told me he will delete the Vero notice on my account, but that does not allow me to relist without the rights holder's permission. To double check if the notice was deleted or not, I e-mailed Ebay few weeks later and asked about the status of my account and if there is any notices or violations and the reply was NO, there is no marked violations on your account.
So if I delete my account now, my history will be clean with Ebay (No violations - no actual status as below standard).
What do you think? Would you delete the account if it was yours? |
| assad | 11-29-2017 07:31 PM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. Why delete it your account seems legit just ride out the below standard, you must have a good history on that account and 2k feedback in 8months is good.. |

I am afraid that after it goes below standard for 1 month and then goes back to above standard, it will be hard to pump my listings up in the search results. Someone already posted here about this today and explained how his listings are still being pushed down even though his account is above standard once again. |
| dallis | 11-29-2017 08:40 PM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. If you think 'deleting' the account is going to wipe your slate clean, you're foolish.
EB never forgets anything. Your account will be gone. Your record and misdeeds will remain on their servers forever.
If it were that easy none of us would be here. |

That's my point, if I delete the account now, Ebay records will not show that I had an actual status of below average with them at all. |

If I don't delete my account now it will be like this in the near future:
Above standard
Top rated
Above standard
Below standard (From Dec/2017 till Jan/2018)
Top rated (starting from 01.20.2018)
So if I delete now the records will not show that I was below standard ever. That's what I am trying to say here. |
| dealagreeproceed | 11-29-2017 11:15 PM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. if u delete it then you cant use it... so how is that better than just being below standard but still being able to sell...
im missing your logic on this one...:boink: |
Re: Something bad is going to happen. |
| buckwheats | 11-30-2017 01:25 AM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. but ive talked to another seller who went below standard for a short period of time and then went back above standard. and he told me that his reduced visibility from being below standard was reversed almost immediately.
you should def start another account now so you can have sales during the month ur below standard on that one. |
| assad | 11-30-2017 11:07 AM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. Probably the most stupidest reason to delete your eBay account, just ride out the below standard and get back up there, why would you delete a account with a good record and that sort of feedback...
Just be grateful your on there and selling....
That is my opinion on the matter |
| dachilla | 11-30-2017 11:14 AM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. Seriosly I had a few accounts below standard and some of them sold even better than the top rated ones. This is totally overrated. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine and the account too. |
| dallis | 12-01-2017 03:38 PM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. You keep saying, "If I delete it nobody will ever know".
We keep telling you, "They'll know".
Really, this is as simple as you get.
Consider this in another context: I screwed up my credit credit rating and I have a 480FICO score. If I delete all my credit cards and then open new ones, wow, nobody will ever know my credit score used to be 480! I'm the smartest person on Earth!
Not the way it works. |
| newjerseymax | 12-01-2017 05:19 PM | Re: Something bad is going to happen. Yes they will always have your account standing if you don't go stealth. This would be better logic to start with clean slate.
Use both accounts. Get this one up again. It shouldn't be too hard and at same time work with your fresh clean slate stealth account. |

As I said before, my account's actual status is still above standard and its projected one is below. What I am saying is if I delete now the records won't show that I had an actual status of below standard (not even for 1 month).
Anyway, I decided not to delete it and ride this future below standard status out. |

I am really grateful that Aspkin exists. I will from now on only go stealth on Ebay & Amazon. |

Have you done that before? What strategy do you suggest to persuade them doing that? |

Defect rate due to cancellation because item was not available anymore. Let me explain what happened. In Sep/2017 I had a listing for iPhone charging cables, the listing got veroed down and at that day I had 30 sales. I called Ebay after the listing got pulled down and the employee at Ebay explained why the listing got removed and asserted that the 30 sales are not valid anymore and I am not allowed to ship them. I was new to this whole Ebay scene and feared the idea that the 30 customer will file reports that they didn't get their stuff.
Ebay basically blocked everything related to that listing (i.e: I was not able to print shipping labels, issue refunds through Ebay or mark as shipped at all - I always got a red banner showing some kind of error). After that phone called I came to the conclusion that the best thing I could do is refund the customers through Paypal.
One day later I find out that my defect rate jumped to 3.01% (The requirement to be above standard is that your defect rate should be below or equal to 2.00%).
My current status is above standard, my projected one is as follows:
Defect rate = 3.00% (Below standard)
Quote of delivery time = 0.81 % (Top rated)
Quote of cases closed without seller's resolution = 0.08 % (Top rated)
I called Ebay in Oct/2017 and explained what happend to one of their employees and he was very kind and promised to delete the defect rate and set it back to its previous state, two days later I get called by Ebay again (by different employee) and was told that employee's decision was reversed!!
How did you persuade Ebay to modify your status manually? |

I won't get veroed again. I will list the cables as generic, not use the word "Apple" in my listing's title or the item description. |

LOL :comp5:
I approached the employee as I was confused by different statements on the side of Ebay employees and that was really the case btw.
I will give it a try and see what happens... |

Everyone is selling generic cables for iPhone and no one is getting veroed. Selling these cables is juicy as f*** and listing the right way will not get you banned.
The biggest seller on Ebay.de in this category is doing it right and his listings have been active for more than 3 years now. He only sells iPhone cables and have like 25 listings for these. None of them got veroed down. |

Except you, who got caught and hammered because you were dishonest.
And all of us, who don't sell phake sh**.
Really, you've got too many sneaky, complicated plots and ploys and schemes going on in your brain, it must be exhausting to work this hard at something so simple, just go get back on and keep your nose clean from now on and tell your customers the truth.
This isn't rocket science. |

I kept a list of sellers and listings of that category, more than 20 sellers and like 50 listings got reported by Markmonitor in the period between Sep-Nov/2017.
The cables I used to sell were really of good quality. It was really hard to spot the difference between them and a real cable from Apple. I had more than 2000 feedbacks for these cables and 99.9% of them were positive and the customers couldn't be happier. When a customer was not happy with what he got I used to sent a return-label and issue a refund once I get my item back (sometimes even without asking them to send anything back).
So all in all not even a single person was tricked, scammed or whatever. All the customers definitely knew what I was selling was not original cables from Apple. Nobody comes to Ebay to get authentic lightning cables and that's a fact. You can't really be that naive and think an original cable is going to be sold for 5 $ and without its original packaging!!
I see it this way, I tricked the Ebay search engine (as all other sellers do) and used the word "Apple" in my title so that the placement of my listing will be pumped up in the search results.
Anyway, I appreciate your advice and will absolutely not repeat the same mistake with titling never again.
P.S: There are no schemes, ploys or plots of any kind going on in my head :pop2: I don't know where you got this idea from  |

No, EVERY SINGLE PERSON was tricked and scammed! But I'm glad you have the ability to downplay it, and feel like you did nothing wrong.
You're very new to eBay, so trust me when I say this to you... you would have a METRIC SHIIT TON of negative feedback if your customers thought these were ⊗⊗⊗⊗ cables after they received them. Lucky for you, you were selling decent quality cables.
Orrrr, maybe Germans just don't give a damn lol... |

Germans are the kind of customers who give a damn A LOT. You have no idea how criticizing the German customer is and how hard it is to make him/her satisfied. Simply put they expect to get everything for every cent they paid and they're actually used to have a decent quality in pretty much all branches of the economy.
Luckily I sold a very high quality cables, one could hardly differentiate between an original cable and one of them. I even had more than 60 customers that gave the exact following feedback: Quote:
"Product exactly as described"
