My main account (which was created 8 months ago) had a top rated status until recently. My actual status is above standard, but my projected one is below.

The account will have a below standard status for the period between 12.20.2017 - 01.20.2018.

Starting from the 01.20.2018 it will be top rated again.

I am not selling on that account anymore and it is technically abandoned. Traffic metrics are as follows:

Conversion rate = 0,0%

Impressions = - 100,0%

Page calling = 0,0%


I am considering deleting the account before its projected status becomes actual.

I called up Ebay customer service and the employee said he would consider this option if it was him and create a new account.


The account has around 50k in sales and 2000 positive feedbacks (99.9%).


The account is clean, even after I got veroed down I kept calling Ebay and explaining the situation until one employee told me he will delete the Vero notice on my account, but that does not allow me to relist without the rights holder's permission. To double check if the notice was deleted or not, I e-mailed Ebay few weeks later and asked about the status of my account and if there is any notices or violations and the reply was NO, there is no marked violations on your account.


So if I delete my account now, my history will be clean with Ebay (No violations - no actual status as below standard).



What do you think? Would you delete the account if it was yours?

Why delete it your account seems legit just ride out the below standard, you must have a good history on that account and 2k feedback in 8months is good..

I am afraid that after it goes below standard for 1 month and then goes back to above standard, it will be hard to pump my listings up in the search results. Someone already posted here about this today and explained how his listings are still being pushed down even though his account is above standard once again.

If you think 'deleting' the account is going to wipe your slate clean, you're foolish.

EB never forgets anything. Your account will be gone. Your record and misdeeds will remain on their servers forever.

That's my point, if I delete the account now, Ebay records will not show that I had an actual status of below average with them at all.

Ebay records will always keep info - just as a default assumption

but ive talked to another seller who went below standard for a short period of time and then went back above standard. and he told me that his reduced visibility from being below standard was reversed almost immediately.

you should def start another account now so you can have sales during the month ur below standard on that one.

Probably the most stupidest reason to delete your eBay account, just ride out the below standard and get back up there, why would you delete a account with a good record and that sort of feedback...

Just be grateful your on there and selling....

Seriosly I had a few accounts below standard and some of them sold even better than the top rated ones. This is totally overrated. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine and the account too.

Consider this in another context: I screwed up my credit credit rating and I have a 480FICO score. If I delete all my credit cards and then open new ones, wow, nobody will ever know my credit score used to be 480! I'm the smartest person on Earth!

Yes they will always have your account standing if you don't go stealth. This would be better logic to start with clean slate.

Use both accounts. Get this one up again. It shouldn't be too hard and at same time work with your fresh clean slate stealth account.

As I said before, my account's actual status is still above standard and its projected one is below. What I am saying is if I delete now the records won't show that I had an actual status of below standard (not even for 1 month).

Anyway, I decided not to delete it and ride this future below standard status out.

I am really grateful that Aspkin exists. I will from now on only go stealth on Ebay & Amazon.

You've spent more than enough time on here dreaming up dumba55 ideas, when you could have been doing something about a projected status that doesn't go into affect until 12/20. Get to work.

Best thing i can advise is call ebay and try getting the defects removed before your evaluation date

Defect rate due to cancellation because item was not available anymore. Let me explain what happened. In Sep/2017 I had a listing for iPhone charging cables, the listing got veroed down and at that day I had 30 sales. I called Ebay after the listing got pulled down and the employee at Ebay explained why the listing got removed and asserted that the 30 sales are not valid anymore and I am not allowed to ship them. I was new to this whole Ebay scene and feared the idea that the 30 customer will file reports that they didn't get their stuff.

Ebay basically blocked everything related to that listing (i.e: I was not able to print shipping labels, issue refunds through Ebay or mark as shipped at all - I always got a red banner showing some kind of error). After that phone called I came to the conclusion that the best thing I could do is refund the customers through Paypal.

One day later I find out that my defect rate jumped to 3.01% (The requirement to be above standard is that your defect rate should be below or equal to 2.00%).


My current status is above standard, my projected one is as follows:

Defect rate = 3.00% (Below standard)

Quote of delivery time = 0.81 % (Top rated)

Quote of cases closed without seller's resolution = 0.08 % (Top rated)



I called Ebay in Oct/2017 and explained what happend to one of their employees and he was very kind and promised to delete the defect rate and set it back to its previous state, two days later I get called by Ebay again (by different employee) and was told that employee's decision was reversed!!
