User Accounts In Vista

Can anyone tell me how many user accounts you can have with Vista Home Pre?Thanks for the help!!

Lyda 06-06-2009 07:45 AM

Probably as many as you want.. Shouldn't be different than in XP.

lakeman 06-06-2009 07:45 AM

How many do you need? A while back someone said they had like 60, so you can have a lot. As long as your computer can handle it, it might make it a lot slower.

oompaloompa 06-06-2009 07:54 AM

not tried, got up to 10 and stopped and doubled up or would need magnifying glass to see them..

Ive had loads on vista, can't rememeber the number but it must have been around 50 or so- it did slow the computer down big time especially on start up.
Another thing, Vista user accounts are supposed to be less safe than XP ones. Not sure why that is, something to do with "stability" and files getting moved around or something. May be bollox, but i scared me enough to remove Vista and replace it with XP

oompaloompa 06-06-2009 10:37 AM

oh, that reminds me about the slowing down aspect, how do you NOT transport all the icons and games etc from general main screen, all I want on user accounts is my browser but it seems to give me everything as default, will just deleting the icons work? agreed it slows dowm pc alot so too many users isnt a good thing

Lyda 06-06-2009 12:09 PM

You don't Oompaloompa. I does come with all your other installed programs and no way around it. But we can't have it all, can we.. The only solution is to have mulitple computers, few for Ebay and one for your normal every day life /work on computer.

Is that definitely true? There's no way to create user accounts and control which files are created in them? It does waste loads of space with all those unused files

oompaloompa 06-07-2009 05:44 AM

Dont know , as other users are not the administrator screen, you cant do much, I would really like to know, my pc sounds like a steam engine its so overloaded!

lakeman 06-07-2009 05:49 AM

I make all of my user acconts administrators so they all have the same abilities. What is there to clear? Mine only copies like 10 desktop items to each user account.

GreenBean 06-07-2009 05:56 AM

^^^Don't ya'll disable icons? :ranger:

oompaloompa 06-07-2009 10:26 AM

mine copies almost everything from main screeen, about 30 icons

Hercules 06-07-2009 05:40 PM

Put those icons in a folder and leave your main screen allmost empty. I read somewhere that it makes things faster and I noticed it to. oompaloompa

You might as well delete and create a brand new user as needed instead of creating 10+ users. Haha.
