As you know (And I am not fantasizing about the iPhone cables), my account was hit with a Vero takedown few months ago and one of the consequences associated with that notice was a high defect rate due to cancelled purchases. Before the Vero notice my account's status was top rated seller, after the Vero it deteriorated to above standard and it was supposed to be below standard starting the 12/20/2017. So yesterday I was 3 days ago from going below standard.
On Friday's evening I was feeling really really down because of my account's status and because of some financial hurdles. I was looking at my phone and out of the sudden I decided to call up Ebay customer service and ask them about my account and how likely is it that I will get suspended due to going below standard soon.
So after getting on phone I got connected to the department responsible for suspensions and the guy I talked to at first was pretty straightforward and said:
"No you won't get suspended if you go below standard for a month, however we'll suspend your account if you don't go above standard soon after that happening. Why have you stopped selling and why is your defect rate so high?".
So I started explaining to him how my listing for iPhone cables got reported by Markmonitor and how I was told by the Ebay employee I called not to ship the sales of that day. He seemed pretty understanding and asked me if I want to get connected to the department responsible for defect rates (I talked with this department like 10-13 times in the past 3 months and they always rejected my request to reset my defect rate), so I said to him I have already talked to them before and wrote many e-mail, but I got nothing doing that! He said try this time too and explain again what happend with you.
I got connected to that department and the guy who talked to me started asking questions like:
1. Why was your listing reported.
2. Since when have you stopped listing on Ebay.
3. Why are you calling about this now and not earlier!!! (I was like WTF, I called like endlessly).
I was kinda shocked and thought this guy is either kidding with me OR does not have access to basic info about my account. I wanted to take advantage of that and asked him:
"Are there any recorded violations on my account?"
And his answer was:
"Let me see... Well, there was a a temporarily suspension on your account in May/2017 for verification purposes and you provided the required documents and the account got activated again. Other than that I see no violations on your account"
As you may also know, an Ebay employee promised to delete the Vero violation on my account as a gesture of good will and he sent me an e-mail confirming he did indeed delete the Vero notice. Seems like the really took place and the notice was removed.
Anyway, the guy seemed very sympathetic after I explained again what happend and said he can only delete some of the cases that caused the defect rate I have, but not all. To do that I must write an e-mail and hope that department will delete all of them. However, he asserted that deleting some of these will prevent me form going below standard and will keep me above. I said that would be great, thanks a lot.
I hang up... 20 minutes later my phone was ringing, I picked up and it was the same guy I talked to. He asked me if I agree about recording our phone call, I said yea sure bla bla bla. He said considering that the next evaluation will take place in 3 days, it's not in my interest to write that department and wait because that would take time and thus might eliminate the possibility of resetting the rate. Therefore he decided to reset my defect rate by himself and delete all the cases that caused it. I was like holly ****
I just checked my account and it's Top Rated again
The lesson I learned is, keep calling Ebay until you get a person that has a good heart and be as polite and calm as you could.
