| slokor | 01-31-2018 10:14 PM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor Just thought of something...
Does this mean that all the ebay accounts linked to limited paypal accounts will become viable accounts again?
That's kinda good news to a LOT of people who lost accounts over the years due to the paypal account getting limited. |

That's kinda good news to a LOT of people who lost accounts over the years due to the paypal account getting limited. | I was thinking it is bad. Sounds to me like if just your eBay account gets suspended, whatever bank you are using to receive payments is also toast. At least when using PayPal, if my eBay was suspended, the PayPal was still alive with the bank attached. |

That's kinda good news to a LOT of people who lost accounts over the years due to the paypal account getting limited. | I have went against the grain for YEARS and had very high sucess rates, when a paypal is limited, i just create a new paypal and have the funds sent to the new paypal from the old ebay account, and just pay the ebay fees with a VCC.. Have a few old school accounts churning through 2-3 paypal accounts a year and no issues on ebay. |

But just like your analogy, if the eBay is good and the Paypal is toast - the same concept applies. One or the other boots you out. |

Are we talking about them asking for account and routing number? Or SSN? Big difference.
I would love to hear more people chime in about their experience using Adyen as a payments processor, how it works, is it easier or more difficult than PayPal, etc.
I hope a guide or break down of how this will affect us stealthier makes its way onto these forums. | This is my question too. I report all my taxes, and this is the first year i got one of those k forms. I just don't go over 20k in paypal, and keep making new paypals. Because, i don't want the form issue, i only got a form this year because of amazon. But, otherwise... some of my really good ebay accounts, went through 3 paypal accounts 19k 19k 19k
And again for the record, i pay my taxes, my accountant sends in ??K a month in estimate payments for me. |
| Gladiator | 01-31-2018 10:52 PM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor If they do everything exactly like Etsy Stealth - I'd honestly say it got easier for you guys.
Once it's implemented I'll gladly help you guys after I verify the same method works. I've got around it on two platforms, I'm ready to go for three. |

I'll believe that when I see it.
There is simply no incentive to let us sellers get off with paying less. |

What will be interesting to see is what the fee will be when Adyen are the main payment proceessor for Ebay. Ebay are taking this company from relative obscurity to the heights, for some reason. I see no reason why they would let us sellers get off with paying less. |

eBay may make them a "name" but one quick glance at their website shows a lot of top 20 websites have been using them, like Spotify, Netflix, Etsy, Groupon, etc.... they just name their checkout solution their own brand. eBay may do the same, etsy for example is "etsy payments"...Adyen is simply a processor that lets an end user company make their own processor on site. |

I can see Paypal being phased out slowly over many years. |
| Gladiator | 02-01-2018 02:46 AM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor Etsy got rid of PayPal within three years of Etsy Payments being created, at least as the main processor for most areas. I could see them getting a lot more sales as people can pay directly on eBay and, if it’s like Etsy payments, they will process PayPal via Adyen too. |
| sarah74 | 02-01-2018 03:01 AM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor Im thinking, with this new system will we now need to have a bank attached to every ebay account? |

| 13obby | 02-01-2018 04:07 AM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor Yes but not for long |
| just_smile | 02-01-2018 04:26 AM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor Many many people haven been brainwashed in to thinking paypal is the best method for sending and receiving money. Theres no way the ordinary customer will dump it aslong as its an option. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-01-2018 04:37 AM | Re: After 15 years, eBay plans to cut off PayPal as its main payments processor From a stealth point of view I suspect this will not be a huge issue.
However convincing both buyers and sellers to change habits might be difficult.
There is also the possibility of a stealth fee hike, EBay's woeful record in implementing new technology, and also serious security concerns of giving EBay sensitive financial information. Ebay's Dispute resolution process will have to seriously up their game - as well as their customer service. I have concerns about all of these.
Finally, despite what many think of Paypal, they are a tried and tested payment processor.
My guess is that this timeframe is likely to be extended considerably.
