Default PayPal Alternatives

Hello guys!
I was wondering if I can use an alternative payment processor instead of PayPal with a stealth account? Such as Authorize.net? Do I fill out my own details there, or do they have to match the stealth account? What are the chances of the account being suspended of I do this? I've had bad experiences with PayPal and I'd like to use an alternative payment processor, but I want to see the risks involved. Any help is highly appreciated.

Sure, you can use another processor.

I assume your goal is to not sell anything, right?

Because that will be the result.

Shoppers on EB nearly always expect to pay with PayPal, period. If you require some other payment method that makes the buyer jump through hoops, they are likely to go elsewhere.

Authorize.net doesn't require sign-in, and its made to accept all major credit and debit cards. Not really many issues that I can see.

Although this is true, and I have bought items in the past from sellers who have their own payment gateway/processor, it still requires an extra step to enter my card info. There are just many buyers who wouldn't want to go through that trouble.

The fact is you can expect sales to decline when you don't have PayPal as a payment option on eBay. I wish that wasn't the case, but we will wait and see how Adyen's payment are processed once EB gets that going.

I mean eBay is a side job for me, so I can sustain a slight drop in sales, especially if I offer competitive prices. My concern is that if I input my real information and it doesnt match the eBay account it won't work or I'll be suspended.

Indeed. Buyers seem to think eBay only offers PayPal as a payment option.

LMFAO!!!

A "slight drop" of about 95%, you mean.

Sure, use Authorize.net. I won't put my credit card number in anywhere any more, and I'm not going to buy a gift card just to buy something you sell, so if you're sell anything I want, I'm moving on, just like most other folks.

Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

But go ahead and give it a try, the rest of us will be thrilled to service your customers for you.

Good luck with using another payment provider/gateway. Sales will probably drop dramatically.

I can speak with me personally, if I encounter a seller than doesn't accept PayPal and I'm being requested to enter all my payment details again, I'll just go elsewhere and buy from soneone who does accept PayPal even if I have to pay more.

None of this will matter once Adyen's solution eventually gets rolled out on eBay. If you sell on your own sites, or off eBay maybe this will work for you.

It's a shame more buyers aren't like me, on ebay. I spend 5 figures a month on ebay, and enter a card number for every transaction(well, 90% of them).

Lazy ass people!

The Adyen transition will take several years, but supposedly by 2022 all payments will be shifted and PayPal will no longer be an option.

However, what they say and what actually happens are two different things. Plans change, and who knows, PayPal may still continue to be an option along side of Adyen. We need to wait and see.

I scared the entire forum into white hair when I said adyen will be mandatory In a month LOL.

But for now while we look into a potential solution to a potential situation, I think we should shift our mind into planning on what we can do best these next 2-3 years to maximise ourselves.

The larger question is how this transition will affect stealth accounts? Will this kill off stealth payments as we know it? Will there be a workaround? If so, how will that happen?

It's still too early to speculate.

As with any drastic change, time will tell. Loopholes will be figured out, and taken advantage of. We have a big community here!
