| | | Rhonda | 03-06-2018 12:10 AM | I stopped selling on eBay I will let all of my existing listings expire and not list another new item on it anymore. It is not worth my time and profit margin is going slimmer every year with traffic going down hill at the same time. Good luck to all who are still struggling with this platform. |

Seriously, you can't do what you've always done. You have to constantly change to meet changing market demands.
Otherwise you get left behind.
If your margins are lagging, figure out why, and make the changes necessary to get more market share or move into a more profitable product line.
This is a game for people who don't sit on their past achievements, who constantly strive to move onward to better things. Yesterday's big seller is tomorrow's dusty dog. |

I use professional camera to take pics of my inventory and regularly would see a Chinese seller selling my product with my own picture for 10% of the price with free ePacket delivery :d |

Many Chinese sellers are shipping from the US now, so that wont be much of a deterrent. |

Yesterday's big seller is tomorrow's dusty dog. | I'm tired of always having to keep an eye on the market trying to figure out what is more profitabble. I'd rather spend my time learning SEO and doing social media marketing selling in a market I have passion in. And yes the Chinese from mainland China are destroying the market and that's why I will no longer source from China. Do not mix the Hong Kongers with the Chinese from mainland communist Chinese like you wouldn't call a Taiwanese a Chinese and Australians British. Hong Kongers were sold by the British and we never had the right to vote for our government. |
| Rhonda | 03-06-2018 09:43 PM | Re: I stopped selling on eBay I'm doing a lot better on other platforms because the customers on eBay are only for the rock bottom low price. Where customers on else where are for product variety and great customer service.
The category limit and selling limit on eBay is also a joke. |

SEO doesn't do any good if you don't have anything people want at a price they're willing to pay.
Anyone who doesn't care enough to keep an eye on their market is going to fail, which so far it seems you have.
Passion is meaningless. I'll sell toothpaste if it has a decent profit margin.
This is why you can't make it on EB, and if you can't make it there, you probably can't make it anywhere else. |

I don't care if something makes money if it doesn't bring me joy or is a market I like to work in. You may be the type that can sell or will sell anything, a lot of us aren't. I personally only make and design items I like - it's my passion and what I am good at. It makes so I look forward to going to work every day.
If they can find a niche or build a business around something they like, good for them. |
| dachilla | 03-07-2018 12:12 AM | Re: I stopped selling on eBay @rhonda
Doing SEO is PITA... way mor pita than ebay, amazon and etsy together. And believe me it's way more frustrating.
If I'd do SEO, I'd look out for a cheap zombie army and buy them laptops to do the work for me. |
| SaiJin | 03-07-2018 02:57 AM | Re: I stopped selling on eBay well, I can't blame you for wanting to stop ebaying.
Nowadays, nothing is easy and there's no free rides.
Maybe take a vacation and a break then come back to it. |
| yankee | 03-07-2018 09:54 AM | Re: I stopped selling on eBay I only sell in my passion zone. I dont sell items just because I can make money. One of the reasons I dislike amazon so much. It is boring and sole less. Ebay can be fun still. Awesome pictures, product launches etc... Most of my best friends across this world I have met on ebay because we are passionate about the same items.
A few years ago I did sell some electronic items on amazon for money. Made thousands of extra dollars a month and hated every single aspect of it. Hated the buyers, hated amazon and ebay and I learned to hate selling so I quite. That is a job and I have never had one before those days and I will never have one again. |

Regenerate, stay away from it for a bit and then overthink your decision. You can still walk away after. Taking a vacation also helps motivation. |

Fair enough, but I wouldn't do it for free, and I don't think you would do what you do for free or at a loss either.
If I have to work, and I do, I might as well make the best money I can for those hours I put in and the risk I take.
All this 'I'm going to concentrate on my SEO skills' talk is just that - talk. It's a cop out to avoid doing the hard work of selling product and servicing customers.
I've yet to see 'organic search results' and 'SEO skills' get a product found above someone who's paying $5 per click to be at the top of the page. |

Happened with me this week. I e-mailed Ebay and they kindly said **** off. I shot the seller a message and luckily enough they were cooperative and changed the pic! |

Why do you not QUOTE CORRECTLY ?
The name of the person and their text is needed.
Your above quote is good material. It would be a GREAT one if the name of the poster was included, ie, Gladiator!. ;)
Do you know the correct format to quote?
