eBay departing from PAYPAL

So I guess ebay is departing from paypal payments in future? Not sure if i read that correctly. If that is the case, (which i don't think it is since paypal has millions of customers already) if your ebay original account is good but paypal is bad will the new payment ebay will be working with , are we allowed to start fresh ? Or will it still be paypal

There's a huge thread going about the Adyen switch.

Yes they will eventually ditch PP completely. Nobody knows if this means a fresh start for users with limited PP's. Common sense says it would not mean that since there are thousands of sellers who got their PP limited for some seriously shady stuff. Why would eBay let the guy back on who was selling stolen Samsung smart TV's?

'Eventually' is the key word. It may be 4-5 years and anything can happened between now and then.

Probably best to keep acting as though PP will be a processor for EB for years and years to come - which it will be.

PP won't be ENTIRELY phased out until 2023.

Re: eBay departing from PAYPAL

Even then, I could see EB keeping PP as a payment "option" for buyers who want it well past 2023.

The point is, a lot can change during the next 5 years; nothing is set in stone, especially when it comes to these two companies.

Why do you think ebay ditching paypal? Seems when ebay and paypal were together they had lot of brute power. But guess power causes problems lol

Re: eBay departing from PAYPAL

This morning EB extended their agreement with PP through AT LEAST 2023.

Adyen will be rolled out to 5% of customers in July, and a total of 10% next year, unless things go poorly, some phases have already been delayed, no shock there...

I don't see a large change at all. All EB customers have PP accts. What are you going to do with an EB acct? Nothing but buy on EB. PP will always be needed for the public to 'feel' safe out there in the money spend/movement world. I believe it's showing the world that they are truly separate companies and the big retailers can now offer PP as a payment option (Amazon). But you never know if Adyen will become an offspring PP type processor in the future...Now lets all sing together 'cay sera sera' etc

Least they could have come up with a better name then Adyen ... Paypal was a nice catchy name. Maybe i'm wrong any name works as since the big shots are good at that haahaa

eBay didn't come up with the name Ayden. It has been around for a while.
