Is my account worthless now?

Hello everyone,

A couple of months ago, on Feb 4th to be precise, I purchased a stealth account hoping to get back to selling on Ebay.

Unfortunately, I think I slipped up somehow and my account might be doomed.

I just tried posting my first listing today, but I was told that my selling was now restricted and I'd have to call an Ebay representative to remove the hold.

I called Ebay and talked to a representative for a while, using the information on my account that was provided to me. Unfortunately, at the end he said he needed to verify my information in a public database and started asking questions I'm sure I wouldn't be able to answer satisfactorily.

One question was: When did you purchase the property? (The address on my account)

I was sure I'd be unable to answer these questions correctly, so I made up an excuse about how I had to go, and hung up the phone.


Is there any hope now for my account?

I really don't understand what I did wrong. I had the account for over two months before I listed anything. I bid on a couple of items, and watched a few items.

I wasn't constantly logging in and out of my account, so maybe I needed more history built up?

Any advice on how I could salvage my account? Or what I did wrong?

There are never any guarantees with ebay. You can do everything properly and still run into problems. Its a numbers game really and all you can do is try to increase your odds of success by following the proper steps. So even if you did everything right you might still run into issues.
As for you call to ebay - youll find that many times different reps have different ways of doing things. Some are more difficult than others. Id say call in again and talk to a different rep. If they also try to ask you questions make up an excuse (youre losing connection or whatever) and call again until you find one who will be more accommodating. Way I see it you don't really have anything to lose at this point.

Yes, try to call back. But look up when the property was purchased before you do.

I ran into this same exact problem several days, so I will provide some guidance:
I purchased a eBay Stealth account as well, had the same restriction on the account...had to call in..
I somehow guessed the database question correct but she then said "she could not confirm that the stealth DOB and the name match", so she actually kind of hung up on by saying i have to get "Verified by Paypal", to which she then transferred me to Paypal, I of course hung on up upon being transferred...
This is when I realized, it is imperative that you first link your Ebay Account to your -----VERIFIED PAYPAL ACCOUNT--. When I say link make sure you go to account settings under seller, and make sure you link AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS from your PayPal Accoutn---VERY ESSENTIAL!!--By Doing this eBay sees that you are "verified" by Paypal and they should allow you to list your item...This is what I did and upon calling back I pointed that out to her, and she did not ask me any database questions... and I was able to list the first Item because I told her I linked the paypal and was verified and she was like yes very true!

In addition to that on my second call back, the eBay Rep that removed the restriction was able to see that I was using a VPN, but i just played like a dumb dumb and said I do not know what that is, but she was very dismissive about it as if it was not a big deal, but the point is eBay reps can see if you are using a VPN.

were you using a public VPN or a private one with a personal IP address?

It is nothing new that eB/PP can see you are using a VPN.

A "clean" VPN is perfectly fine, public or shady ones triggers alarms.

Private one as provided by 24VC Fresh ips
