Default Listing pumped down after editing?

So I had a listing and it was in top 5 in its category. I made a small modification and it dropped down in search results.

Do you think it will go back up or should I just end and relist again?

It might go back up when search results are re-indexed, which forum members have said happens every 2 weeks or so. Sometimes a listing will regain it's traction and/or ranking, sometimes it won't. I've always noticed the same thing after editing old high-volume listings. I wouldn't end your listing just yet.

I just checked and luckily it went to its old position.

It's pretty well known that if you extensively edit a listing they will reclassify it as 'new'. That will give it the same rating as the average of your shop, which may be better or worse than your specific listing.

It's best to do small reworks rather than large ones so the listing keeps it's rating - unless it's doing poorly of course.

Sounds like it worked out for you, though.

Sometimes only editing the number of available stock will drag the listing down. I think it's just the eBay syndrome

Increasing available stock hasn't caused me any issues in the past, but modifying the BIN price by even a few cents after a few hundred units have already sold will practically kill a listing.

I'm guessing all you did for your listing was change the stock #? If so, that's probably why your listing got it's rank back so quickly. Just changing the stock # never causes my listings to go down.

I actually changed my stock # as well as the listing's title.
