It looks exactly the same as when customers buy from my eBay account with a merchant account attached now. They are directed to eBay checkout rather than Paypal checkout.

Hopefully as this is rolled out, less customers will be turned off by my use of a merchant account. I think this will help since Adyen apparently uses the same checkout interface as merchant accounts on eBay do.

Side note - I was invited (on a different account which still uses Paypal) into Adyen beta testing on an account last week. I saved the message but I haven't been brave enough to accept the invitation yet. Has anyone accepted a beta invite and tried out Adyen yet?

That would be a funny way to corner eBay. I would assume eBay would have a clause in the agreement somewhere that prevents this sort of thing.

Adyen has so many partners, I doubt they would, but it would be PayPal's good move, I very much wonder if PayPal will make it's own marketplace or partner up with someone.

yeah bro i haven't got an invite but do you think this means they're (ebay) going to totally replace merchant accounts for adyen? i have a merch account as well. auth.net has been around since 96' i doubt nothing will be tampered with them.

I haven't really thought about that angle.

It would make sense that once Adyen is in place they eliminate the other 3 merchant account options so they can monopolize and control all payments on eBay - but I guess only time will tell.

Phaz - on ecommercebytes people have been talking about surprises after accepting the BETA, they're saying once you sign up you can't use PP at all any more on that account, only Adyen.

You might go and search, there have been a number of articles about it.

Some of them may help. :)

In a sense it's kinda to get away from Paypal which has been stealing and holding money for 180 days.

So I just hope that with this new option , all we need to worry about is on the eBay side.

Pretty sure ebay will have their own dirty tricks as far as that goes.
Another issue is that it will essentially close off stealth accounts to all non US sellers as the majority of them do not have access to a US based bank account which will now become a 'must' to get going.

Rather than instructing Paypal to hold funds they'll hold the funds themselves since this will give them direct control over payments.
