Can't use google hangouts to make google voice calls anymore?

Basically it wants to call your burner phone and connect you that way. Before you could use your google voice number and didn't need an active phone. This sucks. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Just delete the number that's connected with your google voice account. That should do the trick.

Nope, its just blank then. I think they are removing the hangouts call feature. And forcing you to connect to your phone to make a call. What a mess.

I left google voice and went to hangouts and called from there. That seemed to work still.

Get a free number with any of the free apps and forward the call to that. You still end up using only your cellphone. Pretty simple and from my experience it works well enough.
