Virtual box and VMware having a hard time with external hdd device.
I built a new computer. Don’t know if the hardware has anything to do with it, i7 3770 3.4 ghz quad core. Running win 10. Installed both virtualbox and VMware on it. Installed windows 7 virtual machine on both. The external hdd I have is a 1 Tb seagate fat32 formatted with all my Firefox portable accounts. I can’t for the life of me get virtual box version of windows to recognize it. The VMware is pretty tough too, but I found out that if I plug in usb 3.0 ports it’s tough, 2.0 it recognizes it better. Does anyone have any suggestions?

16gb, but that's not the issue. The issue is that windows just doesn't recognize USB, or at least very well. On VMware, it detects the hard drive on the USB 2.0, not the 3.0. On Virtualbox, can't whatsoever.

nah, i have my fat32 for my 1tb hard drive because i needed to switch back and forth with mac. I just use windows 10 for now, and if I really need a miniature lite version of win 10, i just use the 32 bit version with 1gb ram.
