GoogleFi and google voice are not working together. Options?

I recently switches my cell service over to Googlefi. I'm really happy with the service. I even have 3 bars in an area that is notorious for being a dead zone. Today I went to link up some google voice numbers and they won't allow it because I have Googlefi. Is there another free service? Am I going to be stuck paying go-daddy for phone numbers now?
