Re: We see where are you calling from.. Unfortunately withholding your number doesn't work with eBay or PayPal.
You need to use a number not associated with any account when calling in, or the actual number on file. |

| nickopedia | 03-12-2019 04:52 PM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. Calls to US toll-free numbers (800, 888, 877, 866, 855, etc) can't be blocked for the simple fact the called party is paying for the call.
There are services out there than can spoof (change) the ANI/CID of the call, but it can't be suppressed (blocked) as the carrier will not pass it through their network. |

I was really wondering how can they find out? | New update : for those ones that call eBay by their mobile,
pay attention at the number they say when answer,
I have tried to call again today by changing my other phone with another
a different SIM and when the automatic voice answered they
said an old phone number of mine that it is not active anymore ,
maybe they could track social network watsapp etcc.
wherever that number was connected |
Re: We see where are you calling from.. I'm always using Skype or Hangouts for calling PayPal. |
| Lucynda | 03-14-2019 02:21 PM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. Soo those services that are supposed to disguise your number don't work in their system? |

If you mean sausage food... hell yea! :FF: |
| Lucynda | 03-15-2019 11:29 AM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. i had to call eBay today and i used the Talkatone App. It's one of those free apps online that gives you a free phone number and you can make calls through the app. the picked up the app's phone number. My only complaint about these apps is some of them have a problem receiving the verification text. Talkatone is one of them, but they are not all like that. |
| ebayround2 | 03-15-2019 11:43 AM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. Get Spoofcard...they have an app or it can use their website. You put in the number you want to show on your end and of course the number you are calling and it spoofs your number. You can even change your voice to male or female...add background noises, etc. It's like 10 cents per minute. I've been using it for about 5 years and it works flawlessly. |

I'm not saying you're wrong but that hasn't been my experience. When I call in using spoofcard or itellas the automated PP prompt greets me with the phone # I'm spoofing. It's a really good option for when you no longer have access to the original phone number on an account. The only time it becomes an issue is if the rep requests to "call you back after their investigation" which did happen to me once while trying to restore a friends account.
I've done it at least ten times though, mostly when requesting limit increases on eBay, and only had a problem once. I don't think spoofing is what caused the issue that one time since reps asking to call back is standard procedure when their investigation is going to take more than a couple minutes. | Depending on the system the financial institution is using, some can tell. That was what I was getting at with spoofed numbers. But if it works for you... :noidea: |
| ebayround2 | 03-15-2019 12:34 PM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. Maybe, but I doubt it with this app. It always gives me "we recognize the number that you are calling from" line so I doubt they know. If they do then they've never let on over the past 5 years. |

| SaiJin | 03-16-2019 12:12 PM | Re: We see where are you calling from.. IMHO getting a real cheap phone is best. It's more reliable, you can see it physically and you won't forget to refill so it doesn't expire. |

Burner App works well. No company in my experience has been able to see my real number (which is also a burner phone so burner App on burner cell). |
