Hi all,
I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on returns as I'm going insane trying to figure it out!
I am happy to accept returns, and currently do, but I want to be able to provide buyers with my own returns label. As eBay now approve returns without me being aware that this has happened, I am missing the opportunity to do this. So far, this has only happened when buyers pay for the return.
So my question
1) If I, the seller, pay for returns, are they still automatically approved or do I need to approve them?
My second issue is that I have tried to change my return policy on my current listings (buy now, good til cancelled) to returns not accepted and it just won't change. I keep getting a message back to say 'returns not specified'. I have also tried relisting items with no returns and listing new items with no returns and none of these options will work - I keep getting the same message.
So my question
1) Is it compulsary for me to offer returns?
2) How can I change the returns policy of current listings?
3) Why can't I list new items with a no returns option?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the forum - all the best as you master stealth
I recommend you don't double post - like you did here: https://www.aspkin.com/forums/introd...y-returns.html - because it's kind of a turn off.
Even if you list items with no return option, buyers will have option to return even via pp - it's crappy like that.

As rsot said, they always will have option to create a case for refund, even you listed that with no refund option.
They can on paypal also on ebay to open a case no matter what.

Firstly you can provide your own returns label and to do this you must select the RMA option in returns settings after you’ve done this all returns will still automatically be accepted however you’ll be given an option to provide your own returns label.
As to changing returns or removing returns policy firstly UK’s distant selling regulations require you to by law to provide returns and if your registered as a business on eBay you have to provide a minimum of 30 days returns.
Therefore you cannot offer listing without any returns it’s the Law in the UK

May be Ebay UK is different, with Ebay USA,if buyer files item not as described,it trumps seller return policy,if seller does not provide a shipping label in 3 days,Ebay will do it for him.
Some sellers opt into auto return,so they dont have to do anything

Item not as described will always trump the returns policy of any seller. Pretty sure that's standard across all eBay platforms.

oh,when ebay provides buyer with a return label, once he uses the label, the carrier will charge Ebay and Ebay will turn around and charge the seller 's Ebay seller account.

Once I sold a heavy bronze bell with stand and stick to a buyer ,it is a bitch to package and I purchased UPIC INSURANCE.
The buyer claimed damage but nowhere can I see from the pictures she provided that there is damage,UPIC denied my insurance claim.
She returned the item with me paying return shipping ,it came back to me in perfect condition, there is no damage and in fact she did a better job than I did in packing the bell.
Fortunately,I am able to resell the item to another buyer and recovered my cost,I then blocked the buyer from buying from me.
i figured she was trying to resell my item, when it does not look like it will be sold quickly ,she opted to get her money back instead of paying her cc bill

I gave up, and just did free returns. This way, you get to charge them up to 50% restocking fee, even for INAD, AND ebay will erase all negative feedback

Sellers return policy means nothing.
eBay's return policy trumps yours especially if the item is Not as Described or "Doesn't seem Authentic".
I find that some parts of the country tend to have more "problem" buyers than others. California and New York are particularly bad. In fact, I refuse to ship to NY buyers on one account due to high return/scam rates for that very reason.
