When you open a UPS account it has to be business and then after the first shipping completed and paid the 5,000 fan fold boxes are available to order.

You can order every few weeks, you can order the 8 x 4 and the 6 x 4 at the same time, the 8 x 4 feeds though the Zebra printers OK just a longer label.

Not true. I've never shipped a penny through them and I have access to 6,000 qty fan-fold.

Maybe even 7500... will have to go back and look.

Sounds a little off to me too but I really don't know. I think they evaluate your account after the first time you order a whole case to see if you're shipping enough with UPS to justify 5000-7500 labels/mo.

But, I already have a business account with them so I guess I'll ship an order with UPS ASAP and see if the option reappears for me. It's not even grayed out for me like it is for Sunspot - it just doesn't show up at all anymore.

Nah, I got a x5000 box and a roll of 940 when I opened my UPS acc. Every month after that I can only get rolls. x5000 boxes have disappeared too.

Maybe older accounts have more perks.. ha, I'll buy your UPS account. :laugh:

Sure. $1000, as that's about what 12 - 6000 qty boxes are going for. A years worth lol

They were like $50 a case on eBay last time I had to buy some.

Also didn't you say you just made your account recently? I'd bet money that it'll disappear for you soon too.

Best I could find for x60000 was $890. No way in hell could any one fill 60,000 orders solo though lol.

Did you quote the right thing? You quoted my statement about how boxes of 4000 labels cost a certain thing on ebay, then asked me how old my account is. I'm confused lol

i just received my free ups supplies. Can I use UPS labels and ship USPS and can i use usps boxes and ship via ups?

Yea, they're blank labels so any carrier will work. USPS supplies (boxes/envelopes) are proprietary and can only be used with USPS.

261 days or 365? Either way that's like 160+ packages a day. Just printing that many labels would take me like an hour lol.

Even with my slow ass inkjet, I could print and package 100 per hour. 20 minutes to print, 40 to pack.

I guess a thermal printer would have knocked the printing down to 5 minutes.

if you are going to drop off at some mail service which accepts UPS,Fed Exp,USPS packages,your packages could end up with the wrong carrier and it would delay delivery.

Nowhere since those aren't used by any couriers for shipping labels.

My Dymo printer was faster than my zebra but the labels weren't free. Used Zebra LP2844 were $50 but print slow... But get free labels so...

You can change your print speed in the zebra printer driver settings. They can spit out like 3 labels per second on the highest speed and a lot of shippers say they print clearer labels when set on faster speeds. I'd be surprised if Dymo's are really faster than an optimized Zebra.. but idk so :noidea:

The Dymo 450 Twin Turbo is 4.26"/s lol. But the labels are smaller/thinner. If Dymo supports 2.25x1.25... Maybe!

Free labels vs 1"/s faster printing speed. Id pick free labels personally.

Ok you got me. Seems that fast sometimes. 4"/s is fine for me.. takes me at least a few minutes to fill the order anyway. :)

Hmm. Are those 3rd party drivers? I've used both stock and 3rd party but had to go stock to get pure black / no dithering but neither had 4"/s

DHL has a commercial thermal printer zebra zp550 any ideas if it's any good? Not a lot of info about it online. Lot more info for fedex's zp500.

I'm 90% sure I had to use custom drivers through stamps.com in order to get their labels to print properly when I started using the Zebra years ago.

This is the driver they link to in the article. Says zebra732 but I guess it's cross compatible. I've never had an issue with dithering unless trying to print images on labels.

Aren't courier specific thermal printers limited to printing one couriers label? When I was shopping for my thermal printer I was told to avoid the Fedex version of the 2844z since it only works with Fedex's software.

Hmm okay, the zp550 I'm reading takes gk 420t drivers. No way to really confirm without buying one.

I think that's true cause there's a pretty ugly yellow zp550 printer then some other darker ones.

My ZP500 Plus is SO Fedex, that I had to go to their site to get the software/driver for it lol

Works just fine, though, for anything I've done so far.
