Couldnt the whole case be ruled in the seller's favor because seller didnt supply buyer with a label?

Sounds like buyer was responsible for shipping and wanted to use their UPS account which... per policy and any return to a business really should be using the label provided unless address is openly stated as okay.

You could say the return needed an RMA number but now you cant process the return - lul.

Nah, wouldn't fly. It's openly stated that buyers on eBay have the right to use their own label or a label provided by the seller. You can see where they say that if you have any return cases that closed due to inactivity archived in your email.

never mind what Ebay policy is,buyer can always file chargeback and prove he has shipped the item back,he will win when he produced tracking number
and the seller would be socked with $20 chargeback fee

precisely, you used their address, its their package not yours....
plus if the occupant knows anything about scams, they might suspect this is even more seriously than you just using their address, which is serious enough....

he may use their address,but the name is not theirs ,so they should not accept or sign for the shipment.

once my mailman delivered a letter of mine to my neighbor,it was from some outfit offering a free radio if I sign up for service via a bank where I keep an account.
They accepted the offer ,get the free radio and I get billed! for the service?

Depends on the name on the shipping label. Could show UPS driver ID if it came to that ha. Or print out a page with tracking #.

And change the return address to another neighbor? Idk if that triggers anything.

keep using neighbor address,some day neighbor will deny ever receiving the package and list the item on Ebay himself

Haha, must be different in the city. Neighbors bring over packages whenever there's a mixup.

Unless your neighbor is your mom I don't see how that's going to help anything in the future.

Add your own address with "front porch" in line 2 if you're really paranoid.. but there's not even any reason to do that. They don't link by return addresses because of fulfillment facilities shipping orders for hundreds of sellers from the same location.

OP expressed concern over neighbors becomming annoyed with repeat returns in the future.

If same situation happened again and neighbors wanted to know what was up changing return address would fix that.

And ya, must be big dif between rural and urban settings ha.

I'd go with the 'buyer should have used provided label' approach and tell Ebay you never recieved the item. Ebay policy is to use provided label.. they have no way to know what address the buyer shipped to. Tracking just shows delivered city. Shift mistake back onto buyer that way.

I feel ebay , card companies and whomever, gives buyers just so much percentage (i would say 100% most of case), if something goes wrong. There are really shady buyers out there but I would say that's like 1%ers and most buyers are very patient and wait for sellers for instructions etc. Plus if your business model is pretty valid then usually the 1%ers don't even do much damage either. This could have prevented, and similar situation happened to me so I just items that are much lower as you have to count the cost
