Does anyone remember using bill point on ebay before they moved over to paypal? It was such an easy platform to use.

That was about 20 years ago if I remember correctly.
Ebay tried to implement Billpoint when paypal came on the scene and overtook everything that had to do with online payments. Then ebay bought out paypal and phased out billpoint.

yes,I remember Billpoint,it is Wells FARGO and EBay,in the early days of accepting credit card online, both Billpoint and Paypal are not set up to detect fraud so well.
Some Eastern European buyer used stolen card to buy from ebay sellers selling fancy evening gowns, and the owner filed chargeback hitting all these sellers, they all lost money in 4-5 figures, one brick and mortar store I heard was wiped out .
then comes lawsuit, dont know what happens to the lawsuit.
I may have been hit with one chargeback, someone used a stolden cc to buy somthing shipped to Saudi Arabia.
The difference betwen Paypal and Billpoint is that with Billpoint, the IT folks moved on and the customer service clerks manned the show while Paypal IT workers continue to tweak the system and make improvements.
Paypal has problems too,a gold seller used to work with Paypal and spoke to the founder, what his name, cant remmeber now,and urge him to tweak his system to allow foreign credit cards to be processed,it turns out these Russians were using stolen cards and the loss was in 6 figures,he refused to pay and Paypal took him to court,he is in TX and PAypal is in CA,

I am surprised Ebay allows paypal to be so active on EBay after Billpoint comes into existance.
Every day,Paypal moves in and update all the sellers listings which accept Paypal,Paypal offers anyone who opens a paypal account ,$10 and the referrer another $10,some sellers made a lot of money referring their buyers to open Paypal account.
Paypal was spending 6 figures every day, finally it will just give $10 to ones who open account not the one who referred him.
Then comes 9/11 and Ebay starts a charity program where ebayers can give $$ using Billpoint, then Paypal immediately ask why cant they be included,so yes, then Paypal updated all the listings to urge buyers and sellers to donate to 9/11 victims.
Then comes the Paypal debit card with 1 1/2% cash rebate, you qualify if you offer Paypal in your listings and must be a premier account or business account.
Paypal was a lot nicer then, they will fight for you if there is a chargeback, they dont put your money on hold and they even pay interest if you opt into their money market fund.
You can even get a person on the phone without long waiting

NoChex is still OK. Used them frequently.
Shame PayPal took over the payment options.

To be honest I prefer it the way it is. As long as you have a business Paypal likes, all is well and you can't fault them for service.

No more excuse like
'the check is in the mail'
or rubber check,NSF is easily $35-55
