Facebook Marketplace and Group Selling

Hi guys.

Just wondered if it would be worth adding Facebook to the list of available selling platforms such as eBay and Amazon etc.

I do a great deal of my selling on Facebook now, both on the Marketplace and on the groups.

I saved approx 100 local selling groups to me and then sales come in faster than eBay.

Problem is that they are now restricting, suspending and banning accounts.

The reason is the amount that you list.

I have found one post in the morning and one in the evening keeps you from being banned but I just had two accounts linked and banned.

Now im a reputable seller and I sell wood, fence panels etc.

Just wondered if this would be worth adding and we could share notes on how to list, how many groups etc.

What do you think?

YES, definitely would be a great addition to the forum.

Yes I am glad you agree.

It has evolved so much and is a fantastic platform. However it’s so easily to get restricted and avoiding that saves all the headaches.

I had an account with 5000 friends (the maximum) the selling was going so well and then they shut it down.

I even appealed and sent driving licence to no avail.

We need to evolve with it and keep accounts alive!

Something I definitely need to look into, are there any pointers you can offer on how you target your customers nationally, what groups to join depending on what you sell, etc?

Is it difficult to get started on Facebook market place?
I would love to read more about it as well

I set up a new Facebook account which is easy enough but the market place is disabled until they see fit to add it. They say “check back later”

So I think a fully verified Facebook account with marketplace that’s a year old would be something I would buy.

I have tried to sell on that but the few sales I get they either want to pick up or meet somewhere to buy and when I ask if they have paypal, they say no. So it is a pain to sell on there.

Yeah, I tried out the marketplace, plenty of inquiries but barely any sales

Re: Facebook Marketplace and Group Selling

Some confirmed facts on Facebook marketplace I have discovered.

When you register a new account it doesn’t automatically come with marketplace.

This kicks in after 30 days or whenever Facebook deem acceptable.

If you set up two accounts on the same computer even if you use a web browser and then clear it the second account will be flagged and you will be asked for mobile confirmation.

If this happens bin the account and try again.

They actively use the IP address.

If they trace you by IP address, internet history, name or date of birth and ask you for ID I the form of a driving license or passport. Do not provide this.

In the majority of cases they will not reinstate these accounts and they use any document you submit for future validation reference.

Tips.

Use variations of your name in terms of spelling.

Use a different date of birth in each account.

Use a unique email and make sure you don’t use it again.

The validation techniques are getting more and more sophisticated.

Once registered, nurture your account with the odd post and some searching around.

Will add more tips. Feel free to throw your own confirmed tips in.

They ask for a photo when you open the account.
How to bypass that?
Some people said they still suspend the account after you upload a photo.

Meet people in a public place near your home that you are very familiar with. A local coffee shop you visit frequently, etc.. Near enough that it is very convenient, but far enough in case some weirdo comes looking for you (1/2 mile is good). I have many years experience selling high risk items on craigslist. Never travel to meet up, meet halfway, etc... too many stupid/crazy people. You set the location. Always.

Re: Facebook Marketplace and Group Selling

Maybe use it more of a marketing tool instead of a selling tool.

FB like Craigslist is full of bottom feeders.

You got a lot of people who don't even know how to form full sentences like "$10?"
on a $50 or 100 item

You get my point

Yeah, just set up a new stealth FB account and there's no option to list stuff on Marketplace. I read on the FB help page that this usallyy applies to new accounts (less than a month old).

But, what I've done is search for buying/selling groups on there, request to be a member, then just sell your stuff in those groups.

Get paid in cash, and no damn fees!
