How much money has eBay lost?
How much money has eBay lost from banning new seller accounts that they think are stealth but are actually normal users trying to start a business with eBay.
Millions? Maybe Billions?
At some point it would cost them a lot of money to just ban an account and tell the user to never sign up again just because they listed something that was over a certain price point or didn't wait a set amount of time before listing etc.

They do. They're a fortune 500 company. Without risk management they would have gone out of business a decade ago, because eBay would be just as awful as iOffer was before they went out of business.
Being mad is one thing but it's not really right to blame eBay's policies. Learning how to work around their system is more productive. |

There are too many scammers out there and ebay is doing everything to prevent them from scamming buyers. it is just a game of calculated risk, statistics and numbers. |

This sounds crazy but Ebay makes MORE money while suspending new seller accounts.
Less sellers means less competition, which means sellers can sell for higher prices. The "race to the bottom " on prices is limited when only 5 sellers offer the same product vs. 50 sellers selling the same product.
The selling fees of 10% go up when an item can sell for $50 instead of $40 too many sellers would gravitate their price to.
Ebay is not dumb and knows exactly what they are doing. |

My point was eBay has to scrutinize new sellers like they do if they want to stay relevant. Otherwise eBay would be 70% stealth accounts selling Microsoft codes or whatever other digital product. That kind of seller makes eBay look bad and brings the wrong kind of attention. Amazon has already taken the majority of eBay's buyers, so maybe eBay is finally trying to do something about their reputation as the internet's flea market.
Genuine new sellers aren't having any problems starting off accounts. They're just calling in to answer the questions. Same thing with serious sellers. They're forming their new corporations or LLC's or whatever business type they're using, signing up, and calling in if needed.
They're just trying to make it harder for broke people to make a dozen accounts and scam customers with junk from china, because that's where they really take losses. :noidea: |

And they know most stealth accounts will just let eBay take their losses while they run away from whatever situation comes up. So they're making it where only serious sellers can sell.
I was talking more about the bulk microsoft codes Chinese vendors are currently pushing, because there's practically no startup costs involved. eBay is having a really hard time with those guys right now. |

It is bad enough you have to compete with other fellow sellers,and your suppliers,now you have sellers who dont even have any merchandise (retail arbitragers). |

| Raise the entry barrier of doing business on Ebay!
We used to pay for listing from 5 cents to 25 cents,extra pictures cost more,we can relist free once if it does not sell.
If one has to pay listing fee,you would see less garbage listed |

they do not care new sellers any more.
also, they tried to delete as much as possible risky seller what they thought. |

They will be begging for new sellers if the chinese sellers are booted off.
Ebay / paypal turn a blind eye to their stealth accounts because of the amount of revenue they do. They simply can't refuse the business they bring. |
